I usually post 10 comments into 10 different blogs per day.

Whew! 100 comments a day. 500 to 700 a week, depending how many days you work.

Often, I'll manage one a week or one a month. Smile

How long have you been doing this? How's it working for you? Care to share any stats?

Yes, good question, I'd be interested in hearing from folks who have approached comment marketing in a serious determined manner, with tracking.

Could we consider comment marketing a version of article marketing?

I'd like to learn from folks tracking that as well. It seems most folks are just blasting their articles and comments out there, without really knowing if it's working or not.

I'm doing some tracking, and it doesn't look like direct traffic alone will justify all the typing. But maybe when you put all the factors on the table, it's a different picture.

I agree with the sentiment of the original question about how many comments
The search engines like to see a natural pattern of link building

It makes sense not to suddenly have a surge in the pages linking back to your sites but to have a slow but consistent pattern
A good article that teaches how to find do follow blogs is at http://niche-traffic-sale.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-to-find-niche-do-follow-websites.html

I hope you find this useful

When you're commenting on blogs, make sure you're not solely focused on getting backlinks for PR purposes. Remember your ultimate goal is traffic which brings revenue. Who cares if a blog is NoFollow if they have a strong readership that is relevant and targeted to your niche? A well thought out blog post can bring a good amount of traffic.

Yes, just as previously stated. Posting comments on different blogs, especially within the same area is very helpful.

Do not overdo it and try write something of value or relevance to the blog post you are commenting on.

The comment should be a relevant to the article and thoughtful. That doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be longwinded, although it won't hurt.Leave a links back to your website using a keyword as anchor text: most blogs allow HTML tags and hence one must use this feature. To leave link with an anchor text, simply insert this code your comment.
