Post subject: How create datafeeds?
|
|
|
Hi,
I'm a merchant (and the Newbie of the Year), about to sign up an affiliate network. I'm curious about those datafeeds.
I know that they should be csv file, delimited in some way (comma or pipe or whatever). That's not the issue.
My concern is how I create them.
Are there some online tool or something that I can use to crawl the shop for data and export as a csv file? Or do I have to set up a page with such tool myself (using php and MySQL)? Or how?
Advice appreciated, as always.
Cheers,
Dan

I found info elsewhere and I'm now in the middle of setting up an application that will create the feed.
So, problem solved. _________________ Kind regards,

Thanks! I have no idea at this point whether it'll be useful (if I need a RSS feed), but the page is duly bookmarked.
Cheers! _________________ Kind regards,

Here are some examples hope its hopeful to you a data feed is simply a structured form of information about the products you carry. Here’s how a datafeed works
1) A merchant datafeed is a file with data about products.
2) The file can include photos, diagrams, specs, descriptions, and prices.
3) Each category of information is identified with a code – sometimes called a token.
Data feeds are most commonly based on MS Excel, MS Access, or a text file with every value separated by a delimiter (commas, pipes, or tabs). A data feed forms the backbone from which comparison engines derive and display information about your products so if you have a choice, look for merchants that offer datafeeds it may even be worth rebuilding your affiliate site or creating a new one to take advantage of datafeeds. _________________ all american packaging |

Yes, I have the same question. Our company just promoted an affiliate program, and also allowed us to upload a datafeed, but we couldn't upload it, I don't know why, it always says error, and we email the third part of the affiliate, but there is no information now.

A data feed is a file made up of a list of products which use groupings of attributes that define each one of your products in a unique way. It is easiest just to copy an example from the site it is for. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program is useful for creating datafeeds, as it lays the information in an easy to see way, and you can then save as an xml file. _________________ Business Process Outsourcing | Call Center Services | Data Entry Company |

Hello There,
Normally affiliate networks support you in creation of datafeeds. But if you want to create datafeeds you can use third party tools just you need to specify the tags and values.
Do you have inhouse affiliate or running your affiliate through network. |

a data feed is a large file filled with lots of information. More specifically, information about the merchant’s products. A data feed can also be thought of as a database. Data feeds can contain anywhere from a handful of products, to tens of thousands of products. File sizes vary, and in uncompressed form can be anywhere from 500k up to 250MB or more! So those wanting to use data feeds for their affiliate sites must be prepared to handle these large files effectively. One of the most important things you’ll need is a tool like WebMerge or programming skills like PHP, perl and ASP to translate the data feed into pages that visitors can view, initiate purchases from, and be included in search results. _________________ medical billing nyc
