If we make a 4-5 paragraph article and each paragraph is copied from a different article will Search Engine count this as duplicate content? and send it to Supplement Result?

Yes.

Google already recognizes SIMILAR articles as duplicate, that are slightly rewritten.

Is there any point in submitting an article to more than 50 or so article sites or will they only count one of your articles and the rest as duplicate content?

They see the rest as duplicate content. But it is worth nonetheless, because you can get traffic from the article directories.

Even though it may be an issue of duplicate content, it is advisable to submit an article to a good number of article directory sites as they are regarded as the authority sites.
