Hi folks,
I really need help here. I have made so many mistakes I can't afford to keep up at this pace. I am stuck in niche ville and need to move on. So here is what I need from you if you would be so kind.
I am trying to get this up and running by retirement, (4 years from now) at this pace I will never make it. LOL
First let me say, I know I should not get number bound. But I think up to this point I have not paid attention to the numbers. I just researched what I thought people were interested in. So when I get to the finale step I see I have a flop on my hands.
I have tried at least 4 niches and ignored this one as I think it is just too common. I do have 30 or more years knowledge on this topic but I figure so does everyone else.
But here are some figures. Please look at them and let me know what you think. I think I am getting close but not sure.
I read about low hanging fruit. I need to know if this fruit is so low it is rotting.
Over all demand is 86,408 but supply is 12,900,00
Keywords or phrases
there are 35 in the thousands
and 40 - 50 in the hundreds
Now to the fruit: 59 low hanging fruit so far
Demand is between 60 - 240 supply is 60 - 100
Avg demand 1 - 92 Avg supply 3 - 20
Too low?
Profitability between 1,000 - 390,000
3 are in the 6 digit numbers
26 are in the 5 digit numbers
30 are between 1200 and 9000
I have been reading and taking this one step at a time and re reading and redoing and goofing up and rethinking.
This is not my first choice for a niche, not because I don't like it. I just figure there is too much of it out there already.
But than I am reading the forums and these figures have me confused. Overall is bad but low hanging fruit is good.
So what would you do with this information????
Thanks for your input.

You're getting closer.

I'd ask for more.
Have you typed the main phrase into Google and Yahoo! and (maybe) MSN and examined your top 10 potential competitors? They're your REAL competitors.
What do they look like? What PageRank do they have? Can you beat them? Do they have lots of links to them? Do they have good quality links to them? Can you do better?
Don't just look at the numbers. Look at the websites you'll be competing against. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Thanks Allan,
I am now off to see if I can find the answers to the questions you mentioned.
I don't want to just work the numbers, but than they must mean something and I just didn't want to continue wasting my time on the wrong niche.
As far as "Can I beat them" and "Can I do better with links" remains to be seen. I don't know enough
yet, to be able to answer if I could do either of these.
I still don't understand the link thing. I must have missed that or am not there yet in the guide. Will check on that also.

Good afternoon Allan,
Wow, I did the research on page ranking on Google, Yahoo and MSN for the top ten sites in my niche.
Most are a 3 on all three search engines. On Yahoo three are a pg rank 6 but the other two search engines say only one is ranked as a 6 and that is about.com on all three.
I read your other advice on backlinks and that helped tons. I did the research and it really helped me to understand this.
A couple of sites had 20000 to 30000 back links but alot was just junk links. But than there was also alot of really nice backlinks.
So far, unless I am misinterperting this infomation, I may not have the largest income making site idea, (like work at home sites) but I do believe there is plenty of room for me in what I am thinking.
Now after all this (I know there is lots more to come) I need to check out one more idea for a niche before I completely settle on this one.
You are always a bright spot in my day, with the help you give.

That's easy. Just provide a link to AssociatePrograms.com somewhere, some day. _________________ Allan Gardyne
