Hello there,
I am really starting to get into this whole social bookmarking thing lately, but that's just the thing, I am just starting.
Does anyone know or can anyone recommend how to best use social bookmarking sites like Digg, Furl, Technorati, del.icio.us, etc.?
I know we have to sign up for a free account with each, but after that, what's a good next step?
My thoughts are that it's good to get involved with the social bookmarking network, and comment on other people's articles, blogs, etc. that have been "Digg"ed for example.
Any other ideas?

Liane, Just a reminder... we don't link to discuss multi-level marketing sites.
We'll probably ban links to MLM sites in signatures, too, one day soon. That's not our niche.

Hello Allan!
I was also experiencing the same problem with you. But please take time to see my notes below:
1. It's quite time-exacting to manually submit to each of the social site you know. Try pingoat.com. I'm not their representative but I tried using it and I was able to submit to all social sites. These social sites will get pinged every time there's a new entry in your blog.
2. After submission to social sites you have to follow it up with email marketing. What I mean is you set up an email for your friends and inform them the location of your submitted blog or page to some social sites. Request them to rate or vote or digg or whatever to increase exposure of your submitted page.
3. Use social bookmarking as follow up for article submission to directories.

I have good luck posting and social bookmarking for search engine bait as well as the immediate traffic I get form the top directories.
I use OnlyWire.com to get one post into multiple directories and then I use the plugin on my WordPress blog to bookmark to Digg, Stumbleupon, Propeller, Reddit, and a couple of others.
The key is to target under searched long tail keyword phrases in your title and in the article itself.

| Social bookmarking is one of the best ways to get immediate traffic. But just submitting your site in these social sites is not going to work. You need to become an active member by participating in the site. You can comment, vote or bookmark the other sites. You could add members and join groups. This way you drive more traffic to your site. Sites like onlywire and socialposter help you submit your sites to a number of social bookmarking sites. |

Social book marking is best tool for online marketing. It is very simple to work with social book marking. You have to register and enter in to social marketing. I hope you will get good things in social book marking.

Hi,
I use Onlywire for general bookmarking to multiple sites direct from my blog which is very effective but the jury is still out on social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace etal.
I think for the latter it is best to stick to four or five and concentrate your efforts on them to test results.

Links from social bookmarking sites don't really stick that well anymore. It's just too easy to get those links.
BUT, I still use them mainly to get pages indexed. Onlywire is quick and easy and most of the time it's enough to get a page indexed in a couple of days.
The best technique however is to use social bookmarking on your Ezine Articles, your Squidoo lenses and your HubPages!
It will get indexed, get traffic and now you can post links from your lens back to your site
