To all that care to spread wisdom to a total newbie,
The extent of my affiliate knowledge consist of google adwords. I started playing with this around a month ago and have currently spent more than I have gained. I understand the reason for this, and that is my cpc was way too high, hence the $35.00 a day advertising cost.
Anyway, I enjoy doing that and with some more creativity I will eventually turn that into a profitable business however big or small I will later find out. So, to get to the point I would love to start an affiliate web site and grow that way, as it seems to be the way to earn more money. Now, I know how to create a web site and have many friends to help me with that aspect, but my question is "how or what do I promote, and do I promote just one thing per site?" And to follow that up, "in what way is the site content set up?" Remember the subject line.
Thanks to all |

I'm new to marketing and affiliate programs also. I've recently joined Markus Allen's 5 day e-course program after having received free email marketing tips from him for over a year. Great content, I've learned so much. The course is free and available to trial members. The users post questions and answers to one another and to Markus who replies personally... Even directly thru email... Much of the content is geared toward which affiliate programs are the most profitable. In fact Day One focuses on them... I'm still working on my website, but with Markus' program, I already have action. You can check it out here : http://www.tinyurl.com/2ehno

The first thing you have to decide is which type of affiliate site you want to do ... micro, mini or content ... your personality, work habits, ability to spend some money all have something to do with which style is best for you.
Each type of site lends itself to different promotion including PPC, and free SE traffic. The fact that you like PPC, and may have some money to invest, may lead you to micro or mini sites. If, however, you like the idea of building a substantial site on a passion you have, and aim for free SE traffic, you may want to consider a content site. Not to say you can't PPC your content site, or use free SE for micro or mini ... just that the site styles tend to lend themselves to the types of promotion I mentioned above.
You may even want to try a combination of all one kind of site, or a variety of styles it really is up to you. Evaluate your strengths, and weaknesses ... mustn't forget those ... do some search and browse on the forum, as well as Allan's newsletter archives, and Rupert's work on content sites (on AP's home page) to see which appeals to you.
Once you decide on the style of site you would like to start with, then we can help you with some excellent resources to get you going in the right direction (if you haven't already found some through Allan's newsletters).
There are many threads you can browse through on mini, micro, and content sites, including some site reviews, that offer great advice and suggestions.
Hope this helps,

But, has relying on Markus Allen's site made you any money
Internet Marketing is just too saturated unless you specialize in a niche specialty market.
How will you market your Markus Allen's site |

Hi again,
I joined Markus' program about two weeks back. One week ago, I started marketing just with google ad words and a modest budget. Again, I have no website. Thus far, I have 36 signups on my first level and nine on a second tier. People can even sign up as trial members and test drive the whole thing with the E-course. The program is lucrative in my opinion, you can check it out here : http://www.tinyurl.com/2ehno
Since I'm new like I said before, I'm sure I'll pick up alot of info tonight - Markus is holding a teleconference call for paid-up preferred members. I'll bring more highlights to the forum tomorrow...
By the way, Markus' program is more than just one website, it's actually hundreds of pages of content that you can capitalize on. Lots of marketing tips and advice for any product that you sell. See below... it's a give-to-get marketing strategy.

The best advice I can give you is to think of a subject matter that you are passionate about. That way, you'll not find it hard to keep adding to your site content, which is very, very important in affiliate marketing.
Are you a comic book collector? Then put up a comic book site and fill it with affiliate links to merchants who sell comic books.
Are you a health buff? You can put up a site recommending ways to keep people healthy. Then fill it up with merchants who sell health supplements, medicines and the like.
If you're a football aficionado, put up a site dedicated to your favorite team, then join affiliate programs for sports betting sites (I recommend http://www.sportsbetting.com/affiliates/index.html) or sites that sell football magazines.
Remember, you'll not find it hard to set-up and maintain your site if you're comfortable with your site's subject. I assure you, it will feel like a walk in the park. |
