I've been looking for a good resume writing affiliate program and found [URL deleted - Moderator] this one here, which I have a couple of concerns about they are:

1. adsense on the sales page

2. The unblockable pop up with both adsense and promotion for an entirely different product altogether.

I'm only considering it because it's the most popular, highest %refd and gravity on clickbank for the word "resume".

Based on the adsense on the page and the pop up window promoting a different product via a different hoplink would anyone still consider promoting it?

I did buy the product and read it as well, it is a good product although very sloppily done with lots of typos and grammatical errors.

Hi Dotdash,

Those points would give me cause for concern too, although in this case the Adsense does not appear until right at the end of the page.

The affiliate page does not have much help on it but it does have an email address. You could try emailing the merchant and asking him to supply a version of the sales page without the offending points, long shot but maybe worth a try.

I'd be concerned, too.

An affiliate merchant who does this is putting his interests ahead of the interests of his affiliates. That's a short-sighted approach to business. For long-term success, affiliate merchants should be working hard to help their affiliates achieve sales, not doing things which divert sales.

As Larry says, the AdSense ad is right at the bottom of the page, but it could easily distract someone who hasn't quite decided whether or not to buy the product, thus reducing the conversion rate and your affiliate commissions. Placing it on the sales page is a bad decision for affiliates.

Yuk! That's awful for two reasons:

1. Traffic is being diverted to a non-commission earning product.

2. The affiliate merchant is either sloppy, ignorant or doesn't care about adhering to AdSense policies, which say:

Quote:
No Google ad or Google search box may be displayed in a pop-up, pop-under, or in an email.

By the way, the pop-up isn't unblockable. Firefox blocks it and lets the user know it has been blocked.

I'd have a really uneasy feeling about promoting a company that would treat affiliates so badly.

Looks as though you've done solid research on this.

Perhaps the situation can be saved. Sometimes merchants have such a tight focus on achieving sales they just totally overlook seeing things from the affiliate's point of view. To me, this is crazy, because affiliates are their sales force, but it does happen.

You could contact the company and point out this discussion. Maybe we can educate this merchant. One small step...

Thanks Allan and Larry,

I've emailed the merchant with my concerns - lets's wait and see what happens.
