Post subject: Interesting AdSense technique
|
|
|
I happened upon this site with AdSense links. It looks like the webmaster is putting the text color very close to the background color so that only the title and the URL are easily visible.
I assume the webmaster thinks this will cause people to click on the link to get more information, since they will have a difficult time getting information from reading the text.
Any thoughts?

I guess it would help if you actually had a link to review

I think he is shooting himself in the foot.
Most of what makes AdSense work is the fact that people can read a blurp about the site quickly... and then click the link if they want more info.
If you follow the advice by several of the experienced folks about AdWords, the copy (your ad text) is VERY VERY VERY VERY important.
So why waste all that by trying to fool someone into clicking a link based on a title? _________________ Eric D. Burdo

| What's weird about that site is the URL says it's at www.google.com and (except for the weird colors), it looks like a Google search result page. How did they do this??? There's no Adsense ads on there, just sponsored links and all the results for the keyword "flowers" point to this Triad site??? Then if you click on one of them it goes to something like a phone book. I can't imagine how this site is making any money at all. |

True, but the tips for getting traffic via AdWords works well for all text based links...
and anyone can get a google SE on their site. Just add the code...
And I bet he is trying to trap searchers into finding stuff from his site, and he gets click-through monies... _________________ Eric D. Burdo

I have taken a look at the page and I can definitly say that it looks like Googles search results and ads.
I also think that using a similar text color to the background of Adsense ads is a bad idea. This is because I think that all the text within the Adsense Ads are meant to be clearly seen by Adsense's TOS. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs

it's a new google service.
pages are served by google, but customizable.
there is little [ no ] benefit to the webmaster.
guess I'm the only one who can read, and bothered to click on links. |
