I would like to get some suggestions on whether its better to get just a ready made niche adsense template or to get the whole thing with content and rss feeds put together. I want to find one that I can change or add things to - like affiliate programs. Any suggestions?

To reduce the risk of dup content penalty, make sure that you make a lot of modifications to your template.

Template dup? it's not a big deal, as long as you keep the 'template owner rule'. give more attention to the content .. work on it, it will be useless for you to have a site that have many other precise content dup websites (it would be 100's or maybe 1000's of it), you will be in the bottom of SE's.
