I have reading some reviews about both web editors. Althoug they seem to have similar features, one of them costs twice as much as the other one. Can any body explain to me the main differences betwen them?
Welcome to the AssociatePrograms.com forum. Nice to have you aboard!
I have used both SiteBuildIt and XSitePro extensively, mainly because I wanted to market both and needed to know them "first hand". I like both of them just about equally for their software capabilities, user interface, guidance i.e. seo suggestions, documentation and support.
But XSitepro has some advantages in my book.
-With SBI you can only build one website. With XSP you can build as many as you want.
-With XSitePro you have to buy your own domain name and yearly hosting. With SBI the domain name and yearly hosting come with the purchase...just about a wash when it comes to total cash outlay the first year, however with XSite Pro you pay for the software once and own it. With SBI you pay the software fee each year and "lease" it.
-With SBI if you decide to leave them and want your domain name, they charge you $50 for you to tranfer it away from them (I think they called it "associated costs" when I did that.) And, this does not include the cost the new domain registrar will charge you for the transfer on their end. (Usually, with a domain transfer, you only pay the company you are transfering to.)
-With SBI you don't have control (access) over your domain...no server/ftp service...for anything other then what SBI provides. If you want to add modules such as an article directory, forum, etc., you have to host them under a differnt domain name (that adds to the bottom line cost). Therefore, all the great content you can have in these other modules is basically wasted as far as helping your website, because the search engines do NOT see them as part of your site, but as links leading away from your site to other sites. This is not the case with XSP where you have full access and control over your domain and can upload modules into the domain's root directory or folder if it is an add-on domain. SE's then see these modules as part of the main site.
Hope this helps you.

One big difference is that XSitePro is stand-alone software, a replacement for FrontPage or Dreamweaver. SBI is a suite of web-based tools, with new gadgets being added fairly regularly. You login to a website to use it.
With XSitePro, you pay once for the software and then pay separately for web hosting and domain registration. With SBI, the annual fee includes reliable web hosting and domain name registration.
For many SBI users - especially Internet marketing beginners - one huge advantage is the very busy, helpful private forum where users share tips and help and encourage each other. _________________ Allan Gardyne

. I don't think I would just call it a "replacement" for those other two software programs. It does a heck of a lot more.
XSP also has a forum for users that is quite active. They are also going to be upgrading with a lot of new features pretty soon....not sure exactly what they will be including, though, but I'm sure they will keep pace with SBI.
Both are excellent programs for any affiliate marketer.

SBI and XSP are both good but which one you end up using depends a lot on your experience and what you're after.
SBI is more suitable for the complete newbie that has got virtually no experience, not only in web building but also in internet marketing. It provides you all the tools that you could possibly need to get you going.
You get access to keyword research tools, mailing list manager, web site hosting, domain registration, web site building tool, seo tools etc.
More importantly, you also get a complete guide on how to use the tools optimally. You will learn how to search for a profitable niche, how to find the right domain name, how to build your site to make it search engine friendly, how to start a mailing list etc.
It is very useful if you have no idea where to begin.
XSitePro, on the other hand, is excellent if you already have basic internet marketing knowledge. You probably already know things like how to sign up for your own domain and feel comfortable with a normal web hosting account.
You would probably know how to do your own keyword research and probably are aware of the different keyword research tools available on the net.
XSitePro is much quicker to use and can be used to set up multiple sites on different domains. Since XSitePro has nothing to do with your web hosting account, you have complete access to your web host server. You can add your own scripts etc.
So, in short here?s what I recommend.
If you?re in a hurry and you need to get your site up and running with your search engine optimized content and affiliate links all in place in a few clicks of the button or if you need access to your server, then go for XSitePro. Note that XSitePro can only handle site well if they?re below the 100+ webpages mark. After that, a lot of people have reported weird problems. So, if you?re planning to create mini sites but a lot of them, then this is probably the way to go.
If, on the other hand, what I just said made absolutely no sense to you, then stick to Site Build It.
Just my two cents

I love XSite pro - it is much easier to use than front page. I chose XsitePro because it is so quick and easy to use, and because I'm hopeless at web design - none of my sites every looked very pretty, no matter how long I spent on them. Mind you, when I built my first site everyone elses looked just as bad, so you were kind of forgiven.
In saying that, I had a lot of business experience, so I didn't need some of the site build it features. But if I was a complete newbie to business, and site design, I think I would go with site build it. I've heard some great things about it, and some of the sites I've seen that have been created by it are fantastic. _________________ Catherine Lawson's Business Advice Blog

I used to be fr. SBi and later switched to Xsitepro. (mainly because of the cost).
here are a few other things abt. the two:
- xsitepro forum is rather quiet compared to the very busy SBI forum.
- SBI has a build in newsletter or mailing list manager whereas Xsitepro doesn't come with that. you need to get seperately (fr. Aweber for example) and integrate into it.
- xsitepro has no brainstorm module and you have to rely on other tools to do that part of the work.
i find xsitepro rather easy to use, they have a seo analysis tool like sbi and the overall layout i think its nice (except for the limited templates it has compared to sbi)
Note that XSitePro can only handle site well if they?re below the 100+ webpages mark.
I have to agree with what has been said above, I have well over 100 pages now and I am having the strangest glitches from time to time. Apart from that I have to say I'm in Love with XSite Pro and for anyone that has a little experience with site editors, I think its hard to beat.
Tha upgraded version should be available toward the latter part of the year, I know there are many users looking forward to that, my self included.
If it meets all the expectations, and I have a feeling it will, I cant see my self leaving Xsite Pro for quite some time.
Cheers
Pete
