I don't have problem running exe files on my computer, when I trust the source.
If I am ready to give money to receive an exe file, it already means that I trust the source.
Of course, it always helps when the exe file is signed.
I suppose that there are some clients who would refuse to buy from an exe source.
However, our clients made over 7000 sales using our system and we have yet to hear from someone that decided not to buy because of the format.
I believe that if the source can be trusted with payment information, it can be trusted with running exe files.
There are always various scanning software to help people who are lesss trusting. I, myself, like to run the AVG line of security software.

Hi etj,
To summarize everyone here is right about lack of trust with .exe files.
The better is as mentionned to make pdf files instead.
More security & more interoperability (readable in every Operating System).
Many people talked about OOo (OpenOffice.org its real name).
I use it for years (more than 5 years now) & never been disappointed.
It's really a good software & absolutely affordable as it's free (like gratis but also like Freedom).
As this is an Open source product you take no risk with virus attacks...

Otherwise if you prefer to use Ms-Office you can use another Open source software to make you pdfs (and much more), this software is called PDFCreator.
It is also a good product you can trust.
