Post subject: Good advertising or not?
|
|
|
Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying advertising for my site from a well known and somewhat respected online lottery company.
Supposedly, the delivered visitors must spend at least a minimum amount of time on your site while their "tickets" get processed.
So here's my questions: Have any of you tried this type of advertising? Success? Any other thoughts about it? Thanks in advance..... _________________ Pssst! - Wanna do something cool and different to promote your business? ~Click Here~ |

Does your site have anything to do with lotteries? If not, I don't like the sound of this sort of advertising.
The best kind of visitors are those who are actively searching for the info you have on your site.
If this paid traffic you're considering is done via a pop-up which people aren't expecting and if it's totally untargeted traffic...
Imagine what's going on in the visitor's mind: "What's this? Where did it come from? How do I get rid of it?"
You'd need to have a brilliantly compelling message if you hoped to convert the traffic into sales.
If your page advertised a free report on where to find the best lotteries, then you might have a winner. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Hi Allan, no, my site is a Wordpress-powered article site with original content by me.
The lotto company to which I refer works as follows -
Their customer somehow finds out about and plays the lotto game. After the player submits their weekly numbers, they are taken to yours or another advertiser's site, within a frame. They must then wait for approximately 20 seconds or so while their numbers get processed to see if they won anything.
The idea behind all of this is that during the waiting period, the player might use the time to look around your site and maybe buy something or bookmark the site if they like it or whatever.
I did this last summer on a software site and got 1 sale out of 2500 or so visits.
The cost to advertisers is a bit high at $20 per 2000 visits though.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had any experience with this..... _________________ Pssst! - Wanna do something cool and different to promote your business? ~Click Here~ |

The only way I'd consider testing such traffic would be by creating a special landing page for that traffic, appealing to their interests. _________________ Allan Gardyne

This sounds like paid to surf traffic. Google may frown upon this type of traffic because it is incentive based. If you are running adsense, it may not be good for you. Also, lottery and gambling may be a violation of Google adsense TOS.Summarily, this may not be targetted traffic. Its hard to convert untargeted traffic. _________________ 16 Year old kid From Australia Reveals...
