Post subject: Text or graphic

I've been approached by an individual advertiser who wants to put an ongoing ad on a page in my site. The ad consists of a banner graphic and text with several links, both through the banner and in the text. I decided to put it all in a box with the word "Advertisement" immediately above it in very small text.
The advertiser wants me to change the word into a graphic of the word. I suspect at least part of this is to hide the commercial nature of the ad from crawlers (which I'm not entirely comfortable with), but I am not sure of all the implications of doing this.
I'm wondering if someone here can spot any other reasons for this request? Thanks for the help.

If the text he wants you to turn into graphics is an email address, then maybe he wants to avoid email harvesters who may inundate his email with junk. _________________ 16 Year old kid From Australia Reveals...

No, they wanted me to turn the word "Advertisement" into a graphic. I declined the request and the advertiser chose to go ahead with the ad anyway. Which is nice.
