Post subject: Higher percentage from merchant
|
|
|
I just got an email from one of the merchants I signed up with for my new site. He offered me 12% instead of 10% if I put a text link to his site on my home page as well as on the page his product is most related to.
This might be something to pursue with other merchants as well. |

Jewel;
Do you really want an ad on your home page? This is where you introduce yourself and YOUR business... Place it on another, 2-tier page, and resist that extra 2% commision. Just my thinking... _________________ DatabaseDesigner

I think it depends on how you are introducing this merchant...
You could make it work fine from your home page... and still have an excellent site... _________________ Eric D. Burdo

I do not use Adsense or any other (sophisticaed) mechanisms; just links (and reciprocal links), but:
Shouldn't your home page be clutter-free?:
No ads?
No links to others?
Only focused on YOUR business?
Shouldn't you Place your ads deeper into your site; if your products are of no interest, THEN send them to someone else?
I expect to get some rave opinions on this one... _________________ DatabaseDesigner

But... if your business includes advertising, surely it isn't a good idea to give front-page window shoppers the impression that you don't have adverts on your site?
If there's enough screen estate available why not create a box on the homepage with a slightly different background colour, include the advert in the box, and above it (also within the box) write something like: "Find out more about how our featured merchant *** can help you [whatever]" which links to a second or third tiered page.
That way, you have the advert on your front page, but most visitors will click on the text and into your site. Just an idea... I'm really quite new to all this... no doubt someone will point out the pitfalls with the above approach. |
