The repetitive popups are going to alienate your visitors. The hidden comment tags are going to irritate the SE's.

The solution? Remove the code that causes the popups and the hidden code in the html for the comment tags.
Of course, keep in mind, that's my opinon I hate popups of anykind, especially when I use Netscape which blocks all of them (I thought) unless I approve the domain.
As far as the comment tags, it's pretty well known they are considered spam by the major SE's.

I think I'm generally a little more tolerant and easy going than Debs - well at least when it comes to pop ups - but I thought there were too many also. I don't have blocking software, by the way.
What struck me was the ActiveX...
I dread to think what I was missing (by declining to accept on prompt), but whatever it was, there was quite a lot of it.
Seriously, many people are very wary of ActiveX. Is it really worth it?
Just my opinion,
Charlie. _________________ "Before I speak, I have something important to say."

For a browser I use MyIE2. Its based off the Mozilla engine... and it has a built-in popup blocker.
Every time I view a new page in your site, my counter (it counts how many popups were blocked) goes up... and up and up.
Personally, I think the only thing you should have as a popup is an invitation to join your newsletter. And that should only popup once a day (very easy to do with cookies and javascript). _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Hi,
Thanks for your opinion. But Lavacards.com has no control over the pop-up ads as they are shown by our ad networks. But certainly we have chosen to display only ONE Pop-up ad PER HOUR PER IP ADDRESS. So only ONE ad is shown PER VISITOR for ONE page view by ONE ad network!

But one ad per page view per hour, means that if you have 45 pages, you get 45 popups. That will hurt (or even destory) your business...
And you do have control over the ads. You can choose to use a different ad campaign. _________________ Eric D. Burdo

Hi,
First of all thanx for your opinion.
Lavacards.com stats show that only 2% of it's total traffic uses Netscape or any other browser other than IE. So all those who view our site in IE can see our Pop-up ads.
As far as our study in the market, many net users get annoyed with pop-up ads. For them we have the other option (i.e. visitor can be our registered member and Yes, ALL the POP-UP ADS ans BANNER ADS gert VANISHED from our site. That is he gets totally AD-FREE CONTENT!

The point we are trying to make on popups is ... if they irritate your visitors they won't hang around long enough to join and pay.
There are too many sites out there that don't do the popups so often and they are free, with value added paid services as well.
You need to consider your visitors, if they are happy, and you are making money, why are you here asking for help?

Debs,
They are asking for help so their thread stays on top (300 reads) getting lots of clicks, links etc. for you know what purpose.
They had previously posted about their million subscribers blah! blah! etc.
Wally has warned them already about the rules of this forum and welcomed them to participate with quality posts.
All the best

Lavacards' Mr Assistant Webmaster,
Perpetual quoting of previous messages with a repeat paragraph at the bottom is not replying to the messages. I have deleted the superfluous ones.
You also asked for opinions and don't even acknowledge their worth but continue to reject their effectiveness without even a thanks for trying to help. Maybe you really can't be helped. Maybe our responders are wasting their time trying to help you.
Your problems seem original to your site and the ball's back in your court for the time being.
