Judging by what others have said, too, this seems to be where Allan really does stand out from the crowd, in a positive way. Too many people pay only lip service to "feedback".
I have received lengthy replies from Allan in the past, myself. Often I have been confrontational and abrasive in my questions, but he has not dodged the issues like so many choose to do.
Credit where credit's due.
Keep on living the affiliate dream, Allan.

Thanks very much for your kinds words, Nadeem. Glad to hear you're earning some useful revenue.

Oh dear! That sounds all too familiar. It's so easy to fall into the trap of working like crazy to build a business and to push all other matters aside.
Over the past couple of years I've gradually been getting my life back into balance, making time for friends and family and to go for walks once or twice a day. Joanna and I like to make time for a walk around about sunset each day. I hope you can too.
All the best. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Just a quick health update...
We saw the specialist yesterday. The immuno-suppressant therapy I had a few weeks ago hasn't worked.
My platelet count yesterday, one week after a platelet transfusion, was 10 (normal range is 150 to 400), so they gave me platelets and a blood transfusion yesterday. I'll keep having them regularly until I go back into hospital.
So the next steps are chemotherapy to kill damaged cells and then a bone marrow transplant to replace them with healthy ones. No date has been set for that but it will probably be early next month. Arrangements need to be made to get my sister to come over from New Zealand to Australia for the marrow transplant.
Apparently I'll be in hospital for three to four weeks and then there's a recovery period of at least three to four months, with treatment and check-ups. They expect Joanna and me to move into special accommodation near the hospital for all that time. I hope we can arrange Internet access!
Thanks for caring. _________________ Allan Gardyne

My heart skipped a beat at what you are facing. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Joanna, your sister ... your entire family.
I know Rupert, as well as any other employees you have, will do their best for you while you are gone. And I know many of your subscribers will help fill in on the forum as needed.
Good luck, and God Bless,

Allan, it was harsh news to wake up to. I was hoping and praying this
could have been avoided.
I'm sure everything will turn out ok in the end. You and Joanna will
be in my prayers, Allan. Chin up, mate. It's gonna be fine - I'm
100% convinced of that
Best wishes

Allan,
Your current challenges put everything into perspective, and inspires humility. My heart goes out to you and your family.
I can't help but think that the real life drama that you are living, and narrating so courageously is helping all of us to not fall into pettiness and superficiality so easily here on this forum.
On the whole, there is a tone and harmony here that is truly remarkable, and even though this forum doesn't have a huge subscription base, I find myself no longer interested in other forums that I have participated in the past - the energy is simply not as good.
I beleive this is a reflection of your balanced and thoughtful approach to moderation, and your sincere desire to help others.
Irregardless of the outcome of this new hospital tour that is coming, I pray that you and your family may always be immersed in peace and light.
God bless,
Tim _________________ Timothy Warnock

I second that emotion. Maybe I?m way too green, but it shocks me to see the nasty tone of some other forums. Nothing wrong with a lively debate?there is much to be gained from them. But I don?t believe being malevolent is productive. We all have enough challenges in our daily lives and with trying to become successful entrepreneurs without the getting caught up in negativity.
This forum will continue to thrive primarily because of the quality posts and positive tone. That is indeed a testament to its founder and contributors.
My thanks to you all
Kerri

Dear Allan
Hi, hope you're feeling well.
Yesterday's news worried me - a lot. I decided to do some
research, and what I found reassured me. I'd imagined a
lot worse!
And it struck me that many of your readers and customers
may be in a similar situation. So thought I'd put together
a short primer about Aplastic Anemia and BMT, and string
it together with the short article on Attitude I sent you
a while back, create a special report to offer your
well-wishers.
Here it is, hope you like it.

Post subject: Our Prayers Are With You

Hi Allan,
I've been a loyal subscriber for years and years (since 1996 or 1997 - it's been so long I can't even remember), yet disappeared for a few months (a few contracts). Normally, I would never post in the forums (seldom have time to read them).
When I made it back to my newsletter email account and got caught up on all the back issues, I was floored to hear the news. It was almost like a physical blow.
You have given so much to so many...
Our prayers are with you - and with your dear wife Joanna.
Your Loyal Subscriber,
Always,
Karen

Thanks, everyone for all your kind wishes and prayers, and a special thank-you to Dr Mani for writing a short primer about aplastic anemia and bone marrow transplants - http://www.ezinemarketingcenter.com/perspective/
What a wonderful thing to do!
I'm feeling really well today, better than I have for a long time.
I've just spent a relaxing six hours at a clinic receiving a platelet transfusion and two units of blood - more than usual. (It takes a long time to go in, drip by drip - a good opportunity to catch up on reading.)
I don't like the sound of the chemotherapy - or the long recovery period. I've been warned that this will severely disrupt our lives for the next year.
However, I'm surprised to find myself feeling well and optimistic.
I think I've figured out the reason. For the past two years or so, ever since ordinary anemia was diagnosed and the downhill slide began, I've watched my blood count numbers getting worse and worse. I've also had to learn to cope with feeling tired all the time. It was difficult to stay positive while seeing lower blood count numbers almost every time I had a blood test.
Now, at last something is being done about it. I'm not concerned that the immuno-suppressant therapy didn't work. The specialist gave it only a 50% to 60% chance of working anyway. He tried it because it's a less invasive technique than a bone marrow transplant.
He's an expert in aplastic anemia - the best we could find - and has many years of experience, and an excellent record with bone marrow transplants, so the odds this time are much better.
I can accept that the treatment will knock me around a bit. (Soon I'll probably have less hair than Rupert.) The important thing is that something is being done and soon I can start going uphill instead downhill. That's nice feeling.
Thanks for caring, and thanks for turning this forum into a wonderful, sharing, helpful community. You're all fantastic! _________________ Allan Gardyne

Dear Allan,
It?s wonderful to hear you are feeling so positive and looking forward to a full recovery. Strange how life throws us these curves just when we think we?ve got it all figured out?
Despite the seriousness of what you and your family are facing, you continue to amaze me with your strength, courage and optimism. You are a true inspiration.
The primer Dr. Mani was so kind to post has given those of us who are unfamiliar with aplastic anemia and bone marrow transplants a much better understanding of your illness. Thank you, Dr. Mani.
Thank you, Allan, for posting regular updates on your progress. It really helps to know how you are feeling and what your next steps will be.
As always, my prayers are with you.
God Speed.
Kerri
