Post subject: Special Thanks and Wishes To A Special Person...

Dear Allan,
I would consider myself greatly blessed if I were able to positively impact anywhere near the number of people who have been touched by your kind and generous soul. I know I feel most fortunate for being one of your newsletter subscribers.
While we have only communicated personally via e-mail a few times over the years, I cannot thank you enough for how your mentorship and inspiration -- through your newsletter and web site, and by your actions -- has positively impacted my life and the lives of others.
Allan, you are very special, and I thank you for sharing yourself with us.
You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I wish you and your family the love and strength to overcome the health challenges you are facing.
I have always admired your positive attitude... Reading your newsletter has been a constant positive for me over the years, and reading it was especially helpful during a period when my wife and I, then childless, suffered through 3 miscarriages and a failed in-vitro attempt. In 1999, our infertility specialist then gave us a 7 percent chance (based on his experience) of our ever having our own child. Well, despite our frustrations over our past efforts for a successful pregnancy, we decided to view his comment as our having a chance to be one of the 7 out of 100 who would ultimately be successful. Our decision to take that attitude, rather than quit trying, meant EVERYTHING...
Despite a high-risk pregnancy with complications (that included Barb's need to periodically get IVIG treatments to try to boost her low platelet counts), we welcomed Ryan to our family in May 2000. AND, following *another* high-risk pregnancy with complications (that included even more IVIG treatments because of even lower platelet counts), we welcomed our second son, Kyle, to our family in September 2001! The boys are now happy and healthy 3- and 2-year-olds, and Barb and I are ecstatic to have them in our lives.
Allan, while I know our situation was very different from the one you are currently facing, I hope our story will inspire you to know that good doctors are achieving marvelous results in many, many areas -- and often, against great odds, are producing miracles.
Barb and I wish you successful treatment and full recovery and the quality family time you richly deserve.
Sincerely,
Neal R. Voron

Dear Allen,

Thanks Chinenye, and everybody else for all for your kind and encouraging messages. It means a great deal to me and Allan to know that so many people care. We've been warned that this will be the hardest thing we've ever done, and that our lives will be on hold for up to a year, so we'll need a lot of help and humour to get through this time. It's a good thing we like to be with each other, because we've been told I'll have to be with Allan 24 hours a day for several months after the transplant. Keep those prayers going!

I have been following Allan since his recipe web site years ago. He feels like a personal friend that I have admired so much. He is quite a man.
With so many praying for him, how can he help but recover.
Keep your chin up Joanna |
