It sounds to me from reading your post the easiest an best place for you to start is to - Answer a question.
Visit a forum on your topic and look at some of the questions posted. Create a question and do your research on it to answer it.
Most likely you find that you can take the question and create 3-5 articles (answers) to it if you do good research.
One example .... reading a post up in this tread was - Dogs.
Assume the question was - "How to train a dog?"
That question opens up many options and more questions.
Are you training a new puppy?
Training for apartment living?
Training for a hunting dog?
Training for protection?
Is training a small dog different than a big dog?
Training a barking dog?
Training a dog for the blind?
Lots of options!
If you focus on only a keyword you'll be pushed into a corner. Write on a theme.

- do not forget writing for the web which is totally different to write for newspaper or magazine.
you can have quality article but it can not help you to get more traffic or it can not convert well.
