Hi

There is something that's keeping me worried lately. I'm writing articles and besides publishing them on my web site, I'm also sending them to some articles directories with a good PR and traffic. The possible problem is they are being published the same day or with a few days of difference.

Could google think the content is duplicated, and because the article directory has more credibility, I am the one who is copying? Can Google's crawler get confused about dates and be more confidence in a better Website than mine, and therefore think the article was written by that Website?

I'm not sure, but maybe I should wait some days or even weeks sending articles I just wrote... do you have any experience on this?

Thanks

You should be posting the article on your site and not submitting it any where else until you see it's indexed by the search engines (The big 3 at least G, Y, MSN)

I generally re-write each article a bit when I submit it to the article directories to ensure it's a bit different then the ones on my site as well.

Your site will not be penalized for duplicate content. It is just those pages will be filtered out as duplicate content.
If your site does not have a high trust rank (links from authority site like dmoz ) it is better to rewrite the articles before submitting to article directories.

Thanks for your replies!

I should have supposed I had to wait a bit before posting my articles anywhere else.

It is best to wait a while before submitting to the article banks. Also, a re-write up of your article would also be a good idea.

Even if you have the article on your site first, Google may still rank your article higher on some of the article bank type sites.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I read it up on another forum.
