Hi all,

Hope you can bare with me, im pretty new at this and have started to read alot. Somehow im lacking the basics i think.

I would like to know the basics for starting to earn a small amount of money (and only investing as little as possible at start).

Correct me if im wrong.. I should first signup at a webhotel and register a nice domain (with a name matching what i want to sell)?

After that the hard part begins.. designing a page (wich i really suck at, i have no feeling for what looks good and so on). So how should i get on with this? Is there some premade pages i can just get from the sites selling the products so i just redirect traffic to them? Or this is a bad way?

Can i just create a site about anything that generates traffic and after that i take in diffrent ads?

I just really want to get started somehow and then i will be able to grow much easier. Any starting tips would be very much appriciated.

Sorry for all the stupid questions, ill keep reading here and see if i find more answer. This site is the best ive found so far.

Br Stefan

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

You are absolutely correct, this site is the best place to hang around and learn. I?m sure Allan has produced a comprehensive guide for those new to building sites/ online marketing, look around you will find it, if I had more time I?d find the URL for you.

Yes, some affiliate merchants provide pages like that. However, if you use them the big problem you'll face is that's it's extremely difficult to get high rankings in search engines with them, because you're competing with hundreds of other affiliates who are using the same pages.

It's much better to create your own unique pages, even if they're a bit rough.

I created an affiliate tutorial for people like you who are starting out.

Thanks alot for the information Allan. Ive read your guide and like it alot.
The only problem is that i kinda lack the "design" feeling... hard to explain but im really poor at setting up a page. Maybe this isent something for me then? Sad .. I work in IT and have all the technical background and i have the motivation. If i buy a tool like Site Build It , think i could make it?

Hi Stefan,
Action! You're getting nowhere without action.

If you're not feeling well, consult 5 doctors and 5 specialists, all 10 will give you different answers and advises. However, cafefully examine what's common in their answers, and you shall see what's work. Know that, do that!

Enjoy!

I have a detailed plan but I don't want to spam you with it.

A Free Blog and Nitro Affiliate links will get you started, from there you can learn more while playing in the game.

There are templetes available for site design when you are ready to host your own squeeze pages.

Depending on what you are interested in marketing online this will help.

There is a free program called Affiliate Cash Secrets on my Business Success blog that provides everything. The big problem is in competition. But at the same time you have a professional landing page and autoresponder to learn some of the ropes with.

Enjoy,

Chris Titan

I think you're probably over-emphasising the importance of web design. Design is important because you want to create a good impression, but it's the WORDS which create sales. A very simple, plain page with enthusiastic words on it will create sales very nicely.

Until our site revamp a few months ago, AssociatePrograms.com was one of the plainest, simplest sites on the Internet, but it's provided a good living for years. In fact, for several years, all I owned were very simple, plain sites.

Jeepers! If you're smart enough to work in IT, then you're probably smarter than 95% of affiliates. You have a HUGE advantage. What you really need is a bit more confidence.

Yes, if you really do have the motivation which you say you have. If you work your way through the steps and are determined enough to focus like crazy for about six months, you have a really good chance of building a long-term business which generates useful revenue.

A word of warning, though. Even though you have IT experience, for your first site I strongly recommend that you choose the simplest way of using SBI. For your first site, don't try building a site with Dreamweaver or any other tool and plugging it into SBI. That would just slow you down and complicate things.

Do it the simplest way. Just select one of the many templates and use it. That way, you'll be free to concentrate on the content - on the words which achieve the sales.

Later on, when you're generating revenue, you can complicate things and experiement as much as you want to.

Over and over, I've seen it. I give SBI to an assistant and they just resist messing around with it, trying to add their own little personal touches. They end up wasting WEEKS fiddling with unnecessary trivia when they could have spent that time building useful keyword-rich web pages which get found in search engines.

Because you have IT experience, I suspect your biggest trap will be the temptation to fiddle. Resist it. SBI has been tweaked and improved year after year since it was launched. You don't need to fiddle with it or tweak it to generate useful revenue.

Wow, now i understand why i have heard so much good about this site.. Thanks alot for all your helpful answers. I totally agree that i like to fiddle and stuff and will try not to. I sure have the motivation.. spent like 10 hours just this weekend reading this forum:) My mind keeps working all the time about ideas to do something with (even have problems focus at my IT job because i try come up with ideas Smile ). Because thats what i think is the hardest part, find a good idea.. that havent been done 10 million times already. So far it seems really hard to come up with something "new" or something that havent been overdone, but as you mentioned i should prob start with a blog so i get started and take it from there.

Thanks again for the great answers!

steffo - Its great that you've made a start! If you are still unsure of bulding websites yourself, just use an online site builder which has pre-made templates for you to choose from. Its simpler, faster and quite hassle-free.
