They are going to start robbing us of our visits without paying. Take a look at 'related searches' on your ads! _________________ http://www.fastfinancialfreedom.org - financial freedom is a myth (check out my brother's site)

When AdSense first hit the scene, I read comments in several places that Google was one of the few companies trusted enough to put together something like this where users didn't know how much they would earn, couldn't share statistics, etc.
Based on what I'm reading about these "blank pages brought to you by Google" and the "Related Searches" links - that goodwill seems to be dying fast.

There is an enormous backlash about this. One webmaster had taken AdSense off 1000 pages already this am! Dozens of others are doing the same on a smaller scale.
We emailed Google support a couple of hours ago but haven't yet heard back. This is the first serious mistake I believe Google has made with their AdSense program.

I'm perplexed.
After reading this thread, I went to check my Adsense ads being served on my site, and notice nothing different.
I don't see anything about a "Related Searches" Link on them that allows visitors to get relevant info while circumventing clicks and money we as webmasters would earn.
Am I missing something?
The only difference I noticed it that Google now has more detailed statistics and also has implemented some more color schemes for the ads should you choose.
So far, everything has been going well with Adsense, and just yesterday I hit my best day ever.

You're probably not missing anything.
Based on all of the negative feedback, Google decided to temporarily disable this feature. They will re-release it so that publishers have a choice of including or not including it.
We believe this is VERY impressive. Decisive action was taken immediately. By 4:30 EST, there were no more "Related Searches" on our pages.
Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you handle them that makes all the difference.

I'm glad they brought the charity ads back - that's better than the blank space.

True, but it was an astoundingly dumb mistake from an apparently smart company. That's worrying. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Has anyone else's amount per click in Google Adsense gone down in the past week or so? It could be simply that I added the code to some additional pages that probably had cheaper keywords. But it made me wonder if Google had decided to pay a smaller percentage than before. Is anyone else having that trend?

A very smart company.
Nonetheless, GoogleGuy publicly admitted that he thought it was a very good idea when he initially heard it. The concept was that there would be more than just ads in AdWords, making it more valuable to visitors.
Someone else pointed out, though, that Google doesn't do this on their OWN SE pages, which was an interesting observation.

We've seen no drop whatsoever. In fact, there is a lot of fluctuation. The only drop we saw was a large CTR drop yesterday -- but earnings were the same.

I don't expect Google to lower the percentage given to AdSense publishers as an "across the board" decision. They may make adjustments here and there for one reason or another, but I don't expect someone to decide, "now we have our ads on all those websites, let's cut their share and increase our profits."
