Maybe everybody else already knows this, but just in case they don't, I wanted to share our experience.
We have just begun a move of Dog Owner's Digest to a new server and newly designed site. In the process, we research keyword demand and supply and found a good one in dogs being poisoned by eating chocolate. We had over the years written several articles on this subject, so it was easy to put together a keyword optimized page which now has a number three ranking on three of our keywords. When the traffic began flowing, we added Google AdSense, only to see that we got lots of impressions but no click-thru's. That resulted in our learning about Public Service Ads.
I questioned Google support on why this article's pages are getting Public Service Ads.
Google explained that their spider has classified that article as not safe for family reading. Someone named Google Team wrote: "There are a number of reasons why Public Service Ads are displayed on a
particular webpage. Sometimes our crawler is unable to access the
content, and in other cases like yours, the content crawler marks a page's
content as potentially non-family safe."
This has occurred because to write the article, it was necesary to say such things as "when a dog is poisoned from eating chocolate" and "dogs can die from eating chocolate." Poison and dog dying -- means that the reading isn't suitable for families, ironically the very people that need to read that article as they are the majority of dog owners.
Just wanted to share this with others, as a heads-up. _________________ www.dogownersdigest.com & more
