I want to cloak and shorten my affiliate links via .htaccess file. I failed to make it work with urls containing special characters like ampersand and questionmarks. I've searched and searched and only find examples of redirects to urls without those characters.

I'm trying

Code:

RedirectMatch permanent ^/shortlink$ http://www.affiliate.com/aff.php?x=1&y=2

Problem is that ampersand, questionmark and = get encoded and I don't know how to escape them.

I think I found out the soulution:

RedirectPermanent /shortlink http://www.affiliate.com/aff.php?x=1&y=2

Seems to work. Correct me if I'm wrong and this could couse me any problems
