Hello.
As edburdo said, a blog is simply another way of manageing content. The main difference, its an automated system, rather than manually uploading your pages.
I have a blog at blogger.com, and have found regular SEO methods work well. I find the keywords people use at www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion, make them into the title, and post. Blogger automatically names each of my posts as a webpage, and that name is optimized well for Google.
Use something like www.statcounter.com to see what keywords people are using to find your website. Then write more quality posts using these keywords as the title. Over time, this will result in a regular influx of visitors to your blog.

Search engine treats website and blogs in the same way. Search engine gives more important to the content and backlinks.

It`s the same for websites and blogs too.
But Google indexes blogs more often because the content is refreshing every day and new information appears

Actually getting traffic to blogs is a darn site easier than getting traffic to traditional websites. You can ping your posts to help indexing, you can syndicate your RSS feeds, loads of versatility to blogs

I think when comparing to website,blogs listed in google SERP is difficult.But constant unique content post will give it to SERP position above the website.
