Post subject: Commissiom Junction declining applications?
|
|
|
Hello everyone,
On what basis do Commission Junction advertisers instantly accept or decline applicants for their affiliate programs.
I have had almost every program applied for instantly declined. It can't possibly be a subjective test, so I am wondering what it might be, how to get accepted, and whether the advertiser might reverse their automatic discussion manually? |

Traffic volume for some, target market for others. What "topic" do you have your site listed under and what type of sites have rejected you?
Also, some require a live site, do you have a live site listed in your CJ profile? If not, then only those merchants that don't require a live site would approve you.
In all honesty, with the new U S Federal CAN Spam Law, not to mention the other laws inacted recently, including internationally, I think a lot of merchants will be shifting away from approving affiliates without a live site.
Hope this helps,

I have not had any applications rejected so it seems odd that you are having so much trouble. Where do you live? If ouside USA maybe that is the problem. I suggest you ask CJ- use the contact support email link. They answer queries quckly. _________________ How to sleep well every night |

Thanks for your responese Debs.
Most of the declines have been in the credit area; cards, loans etc..
We don't have our site live, simply because we are building the site specifically around our affiliate programs. So we need to be approved before we can write reviews, testimonials, endorsements and so on, and then put the site up on the 'net. We can't put the site up without our affiliate material in place, otherwise there would be no content.
I was wondering whether some merchants are geographically biased as well? We are based in the UK. However, I know for a fact that there are many affiliates living in Australia (Phil Wiley to name but one) and New Zealand, as well as in the Far East and Africa, so I don't think there would be a bias there providing the product has a global market.
Looking at the CJ profiles, it can really only be geography and website profiles for the most part. As for traffic; we all have to start somewhere! |

Financial merchants are much more restrictive than other affiliate markets, I've found. My primary area is in the finance market ... I've been approved and disapproved and rarely get a reason, but it is worth asking.
I think you will find your site needs to be live before they will approve you. Email marketing is of tremendous concern to merchants now.
Provide some content, even if only 250 words on a page ... put in some straight links to sites, then change them later. Yes, I know it is more work, but that may be the only way you will get the approvals you need.
It doesn't have to be a ton of pages, just get 10 pages up fast, some content, then apply. That should help a lot.
