Awhile back this forum also had adsense on it. Why doesn't it have them now? I put them on my forum too and get more page impressions than any other page (individually) on my site, but very little money. I'm wondering if that hurts my overall performance? For instance I made $13.87 for the month for all the forum pages, compared to $180.43 for one of the most popular pages for the month. I can't see how the forum ads would hurt my other results, but wanted to find out why Alan doesn't have Adsense here anymore. Thanks!

Minnie, puleeeze! If you want me to answer your questions, don't break the AdSense rules which you agreed to when you joined the AdSense program.

I'm sure you know AdSense doesn't allow you to share your click-through rates etc. Yes, it seems a crazy rule, but I don't want to get kicked out of AdSense, so I go along with it.

We had AdSense ads at the bottom of each forum page for quite a while. They performed poorly, so we dumped them.

We've never experimented with placing AdSense ads in other positions on the forum, such as at the top of the page or after the first post on each page. That might work better, but you might need a programmer to help you do that. We'll try an experiment one day.

If you have a look on the AdSense site, you can find a "heat map" showing you the best place to position AdSense ads on forum pages:
http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html

After the first post and top left (down a bit) are good spots.

I am SO sorry!! I must have zoned out on what was allowed and what wasn't. I remember when you couldn't mention how much you made, and then it was allowed so I thought by only mentioning segments of my stats, I would be within the guidelines.

I promise never to mention CTR again!
I promise never to mention CTR again!
I promise never to mention CTR again!
I promise never to mention CTR again!

And thank you very much for that link. That will help. It's taken me forever to learn how to update my own php forum, but I finally put the ads on there myself, so I think I can figure out how to move them around to see if it helps.

Well, maybe. Some people tell me they make sure they find my affiliate links and click on them when they're buying something, to thank me for helping them.

Whether to place them on a Forum depends on your ability to drive quality traffic to the adsense advertisers. If you do then you will be sucessful. If you don't then you are wasting time and effort. Read up on the Smart Pricing model and this will make more sense.
