When you submit an article to the major directories (article alley, ezinearticles, etc.) then won't that be pointless because the page your article goes on is a new page which is a page rank of 0. _________________ Discover how to build a wildly profitable opt-in list. |

Not at all, and the page isn't necessarily a PR0. Besides, even a PR0 link is MUCH better than NO LINK. People need to worry less about PR and more about getting their website name and URL in front of as many people as possible. One article posted to a place like Ezine Articles can not only get you a bunch of links (as other people publish you article) but also gets your URL to more people. Ignoring articles is a mistake as they're a necessity. _________________ Avalon

Writing and submitting articles is one of the fastest ways to get backlinks to your site. And as sunshine and avalon have pointed out there are many benefits to doing this.
I like to take my articles and after I have submitted them go and post that article in my blog or create a sub page around the main keyword in the article. I have found doing this helps get that page a high ranking with the search engines and is a great way to utilize the my article even more. _________________ Jeff Schuman

Great utilization of your articles! But what do you mean by: create a subpage around the main keyword in the article?

If your article was on baking a cake and you had a cooking website you would create a file and build a web page and call it bake-a-cake.html
So your page might be this:
http://www.(cooking).com/bake-a-cake.html
You could submit the article and put that link in your bio box creating a specific link back to the sub page you just created. _________________ Jeff Schuman

Uhhh.. not to mention that the page your article is on is likely to get PR over time.
That's like saying 'why create new pages for a wesite, they're just going to have PR0' - I just find that statement alone very bizarre...
But yes, it's the best way I know of to get one-way links - and if your article's really good, it might be picked up by some very big sites - I've seen that happen a few times. _________________ my affiliate marketing blog

And if you do this enough times with enough articles, won't this get you caught by the whole duplicate content penalty thing?

Not if youwrite about different things all of the time. My Team-Schuman website is over 600 pages now and every page is different and built around different keywords that people are searching for. Ot's easy to do now because I just post an article in my blog and title the post using a keyword rather than the title of the article. _________________ Jeff Schuman

I'm not sure where you're getting this info. because I see many of my articles I submit to ezinearticles.com a PR 5. Have you submitted articles to them? If so have you noticed the PR? I think you'll be surprised at the PR you see on any article you submit. With that said though, PR is not all it's cracked up to be anyway.

No such thing. If you submit an article to an article directory and then put that same article on your site, just put additional content "around" the article and maybe change you're heading and author resource box. You can use Rss feeds, navigational links, signup box, additional resource area, etc. etc. to surround the article. Whammo...no more dupe content.

Writting articles is a good way to quickly get back links and also to get some extra traffic. Just because your article goes on a page that is a PR 0 doesn't mean that you will get any benefit from it.
You will. _________________ Affiliate Programs Directory - Over 2,000 Programs
