If it did, it was only a fleeting thought. I know for sure that whatever happened I'd never go back to the old job I'd grown bored with.
Before I quit my job, I used to grumble to my wife, Joanna, as I left for work: "I don't have time for this!"
It was really exhilarating quitting. It felt as though a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.
Suddenly I had all the time I needed to devote to all the things that needed to be done.
Without a job sucking up valuable time, suddenly my Internet business took off like a rocket.
Also, it focuses the mind when suddenly you're relying wholely on your own skills and abilities for your pay packet.
It's a glorious feeling. For any of you who haven't reached this stage yet, you have something wonderful to look forward to.
And here's a hint: The way I achieved it was simply by mastering the basics. _________________ Allan Gardyne

It took me a couple of years. My excuse is that there were hardly any books on Internet marketing in those days! And even when I read a book I wasted ages experimenting instead of simply trying the techniques recommended in the book.
I started by building a little free-hosted site giving away recipes and selling my own recipe ebook - in 1996. I didn't know what I was doing so I started studying Internet marketing.
I joined my first affiliate program in 1997 and used to earn $10 or so a month, or maybe a week if I was lucky.
When the payments increased, I went looking for a directory of affiliate programs. I couldn't find one (apparently one existed but I didn't manage to find it) so I started my own affiliate directory in January 1998. It was just one page on a free-hosted site.
I quit my job in late 1998. I hired my first part-time employee and first full-time employee in 1999.
One thing I've managed to do is spot a few trends and ride the waves.
In 1998, AssociatePrograms.com rode the affiliate marketing wave in the early days.
I followed that up by launching:
PayPerClickSearchEngines - the first directory of pay-per-click search engines. That started as one page in 1999.
LifetimeCommissions.com - the first directory of lifetime and residual income programs.
KeywordWorkshop.com - the first site providing comprehensive reviews of keyword research tools.
Inevitably, heaps of new competitors arise, but new niches, new trends are appearing all the time. To spot them, all you have to do is see what topics people are discussing in email discussion lists such as LED Digest and in blogs and forums.
The site you start as a one-page effort today could end up being a 1,000-page vortal in a few years.
I aim to create sites that are genuinely useful, that help people. I cringe when I think of all the junk some people at throwing at the Internet these days. If you create something that's genuinely useful people link to it voluntarily. I love that. _________________ Allan Gardyne

Sorry... What's a salary?
Working for myself the past 25 years I just don't know of that comfort zone.
But yes.. I make more than I could at any salary position.

I quit my job in April of this year. Allan is right. It is very exhilarating working for yourself online everyday. I call it the 30 second commute.
Allan you sure have done a great job starting helpful sites that fill a void. I didn't realize Lifetime Commissions and KeywordWorkshop were yours. I have referred Associate Programs and PayPerClickSearchEngines a bunch of times in the past. _________________ Jeff Schuman

Yes, hallelujah ... I'm officially making more than I did at any job, which isn't saying a LOT, but ...

I still do a little freelancing, it makes for great investment capital.
But the day when I can't afford to spend my time freelancing is coming! _________________ - blake

You know... you are a bit wrong.
Any normal boss would pay more to employee if he give good results. And it is wrong way to havbe boss's respect via telling him that you earn more on enother job.
As a boss I would pay more to the one who give his best to our biz... as any employee is the part of a team. _________________ www.globo-tech.com - software provider and affiliate program for:
