No, he's saying for about every 1000 impressions of a product, text link, what have you, you'll make about $5 in comission.

I believe that people can earn a living from affiliate programs and a good living to.
Many people fail with affiliate programs because they either:
get greeding and join 1000's of programs instead of putting all of their efforts on to a few programs
When people join affiliate programs they think they'rel earn a quick buck, when it actually takes time and effort before you actually succeed
People also fail because they don't promote their affiliate link enough, or they promote it in a rubbish way. For example, some people add about 10 - 20 banners on one page with their affiliate ids attached, and they expect to make sales from that.
To make money from affiliate programs, it is best to choose programs where they offer a highly demand product that is easy to sell in world wide market today.
If you are trying out affiliate programs for the first time, it will also be best to choose programs that offer a low minimum payout and also pays monthly or sooner.
The main affiliate programs that are working for me are PPC Search Engines. This is because they pay with a low minimum payout, pays monthly or sooner, pays a high percentage of their commissions to their affiliates, some even paying as high as 90% of their bidded clickthru commissions.
Another good thing about ppc search engines is that you are paid per click and not per sale. This means that it is easier for you to earn money from them.
Another good way to earn money from affiliate programs is to refer other affiliates and let them earn the money for you.

I find the site a little surprising. No such luck. It's just a way of expressing how much you MIGHT earn for 1,000 visitors. It's a way of comparing the success of one program with another. Another way is to compare EPC - earnings per click. At the risk of confusing you further, Commission Junction uses the term EPC but there is means earnings per 100 clicks.
By the way, banners tend to be about the worst way of promoting affiliate products these days because people have learned to skim over them. Text links and personal endorsements giving precise details about how a product has helped you are much more effective.

thanks for the advice people, the about us section, yep your correct about that i must expand on that, i was thinking to sell products such as books yes, but also programs like ad-aware removes sopyware form your computer, which may gather once installing p2p software so it does relate. Also electrical things, such as dvd players, dvd's things like that which do relate to my target market, i will be building the shop section soon, and using clickbank and amazon associates (which i have used before) i will sort out the about us page, once this is done i will let you lot know so you can rate it, thanks again for your time,

| my new affiliates are now related with my site, as u can see with ad on download archive section, i totally understand what you mean now by this, plus my text links r also related to my market, thanks for the advice allen |
