Hi again,

after publishing a blog, does WP automatically ping?

If not, where to after publishing?

I noitced in one of the forums on 20apr about WP ping list. Not too sure where i can go to update this list in the admin area...

anyone know?

Go to options menu in your WP dasboard- Under the 'writing' tab there is a text box right at the end which gives you the option to add pinging sites

You can already see pingomatic.com listed there:

If not add these sites to automatically ping whenver you make posts:

lastly, how about RSS FEEDs, does Word Press generate them? If so ,how and where do i go about getting that donme?

If you go to options > writing and at the bottom is update services. Paste addresses you want to ping here.

So all I need to do is just copy and paste into my wordpress right? How do I know it really ping? Hmm, my blog have been running for a week, but visitors are still quite little, and I blog everyday... hmm any ideas how I can push up the traffic?

You probably want to avoid excessively large ping lists like the list shown. It is always a good idea to prune your ping list and keep it to a bare, responsive minimum. Why?

1) It's harder to keep track of which service is working and which is not. If you check many of those you will find they are not working.

2) Excessive pinging can be looked upon as spam. Blasting away at a huge list just screams SPAMMER!

3) A long ping list can delay and even time out your blog post especially if the list is full of unresponsive ping servers.

You also probably want to remove the foreign ping servers like .jp and .de. They tend to eat up bandwidth without adding much in the way of benefit.

I prefer Pingoat too, I had some problems with pingomatic.May be too many wordpress blogs are pinging, and sometimes there is a big delay between the time you ping, and the time your feed appears on readers/aggregators (like my yahoo) or even technorati.

I think that pingoat is more rliable, but I may be wrong.
