Dear Friends,

If you have some experience with Google Adwords, you probably can help me. I am running a campaign for one of my sites. I started with about 900 keywords and now I am down to less than 100. Every day many of my keywords had become inactive for search and Google suggests to either raise my bid or inprove quality. What I looked at competion there are many sites coming up with keywords that I am using approximately 70% of these sites have nothing to do with keyword itself... For exapmle you put in the search "dog health" and you will find out that even mortage companies are bidding on this keyword. Tell me hos their quality could be better from and advertiser that offers products and services closely related to "dog health".... I initially liked the idea of advertising at Google adwords but I am getting discouraged. Can any one help me? Thank you in advance.
Vlad.

Hello, Vlad,
I don't see what you're seeing with mortgage companies coming up for that phrase, I just tried, and it took until the 5th page, ad #49 and #50 are not dog health, but they are health related. They must be bidding on a broad keyword of health.

Anyway, even if the mortgage company is coming up, I imagine it is not because of the quality score, it would be because they are bidding high.

Google doesn't publish what makes up a good quality score, but the highest part of it seems to be the CTR that you are getting. If you're getting a low CTR in relation to the competition at that price range, Google will deactivate you.

Still, they tell you the price that you need to become active again. If you're unwilling to pay the price, I would suggest setting up a new adgroup, strip the inactive keywords out of the old adgroup and put them into the new one, then write a better ad and start fresh. Maybe the next time your CTR will be better and they won't go inactive on you.

Usually a fresh start in a new adgroup will allow you to bid what your original bid was. It sounds like they allowed you to run for a while before they shut you down, so the 2nd time they will probably do the same, and if your CTR stays higher than in the original ad group, you might stay active.

So, work on the ad a bit, see if you can improve it. Make sure the keywords are in the title and/or description, or both, it will help your CTR a lot.
