Post subject: need advice... [Choosing a topic]

I'm new. Hi! I've been experimenting with a few affiliate programs, but I want to make one page dedicated to a subject. I've had a hard time figuring one out, and of course, I hope to expand and have more than one. Anyway... I was thinking about travel. It's something I search for a lot, and it looks like a good one, when I do a search in wordtracker. i've got some ideas that i think are really good... anyway... I just wanted to get some opinions. What do you guys think about the travel idea? Is it worth working on? I'm not sure how detailed I should be here with what I want to do... but yes, I guess I'd like to know if anyone has had any success in this field. thanks!

travel is a pretty broad niche - why don't you hone it down to a narrower topic? _________________ Cheers,

| I'm not sure what would be a narrow enough niche... but what about travelling on a budget? or... travelling with your dog? |

Yea you've probably heard this a million times, but you have to find a niche. Travelling might be a little broad. Narrow it down a little as one of the above posts mentioned. Good Luck _________________ "Get Paid $5 For Each Article"-100% Genuine |

| What about one of the two I came up with, or are they still too broad? |

Hey there:
What you need to do is go to http://inventory.overture.com and narrow down that "travel" niche further as stated above. I did it and came up with niches like discount travel, business travel, adventure travel, last minute travel, and many, many more. Now if you click on "discount travel" for example, you'll have a whole lot of related search terms to "discount travel".
Then take this initial research to wordtracker. You mentioned you were already in there so that's great, but "travel" isn't the word to focus in on. While there, look at the competition numbers, # of searches, kei (don't focus on this 100% though).
From here there are number of directions to go in. You can create a name squeeze page which gives you the one page you talked about. Or you can use the other keywords found in WT and develop a solid content site.
On the name squeeze page, you can offer for free "10 FREE Tips To Enjoying Travel at a Discount!" or something similar. Capture their names/email addresses and make your money on the backend, although when they signup, you can direct them to a discount travel affiliate product, so you'll make some money on the front end.
You can go the ppc route to generate immediate traffic or you can do what's needed to get organic traffic, although it's a bit tougher to rise up the serps with a one page name squeeze. When I build a name squeeze, it's usually promoted via ppc. And when I build a multi-page content site, I'll do ppc and focus on seo related activities like link building, article submitting, etc.
Anyway, I think a narrowed down travel niche would do well if it's promoted properly. Good luck.

hi spiritfild,
What Steve wrote is excellent information.
Some other traveling niche ideas--
honeymoon travel packages
family vacation travel
luxury travel
Remember, the more targeted the market the better.
Good luck with your new website! _________________ Money-Making-Online.net - Huge Google Profits |

I am pretty new myself so weigh this comment. I would make sure whatever you decide, pick something you are really passionate about. Not only will you have more interest in learning of all that is out there on the subject but you will get more ideas on what to put on your site that will attract people.
For example I am a guitarist so I am building a site around it because I know how many of them think and I know what many of them need. I have long way to go but my site will end up being what I have always wanted to see and I know from other guitarist already what will eventually be up there will be helpful.
You may benefit from surfing some travel related forums to see what issue people are most concerned about/interested in. That is where the rubber hits the road. It does not get anymore honest than when someone reaches out for help in a forum.
Hope this helps a little more.
Best of luck,
