Hi,

I have a site where I have the ads well integrated into it and I get a good CTR. This is my best performing site on CTR. I will not give exact figures as it is against their TOS.

But anyway, my site is also in an industry where the keywords bid prices are good.

I am now finding that my earnings is being affected by CPM earnings. What I am earning form CPM revenue is about 3 time less and even sometimes up to nearly 10 times less to what I am getting on average per click for every 1000 pageviews.

Are you seeing the same.

To some people CPM maybe alright if you don't get many clicks, but I also am earning CPM on another site where I don't get many clicks at all and my earnings per click is low, but I am still getting about 3 times the amount for every 1000 pagesviews on average for the clicks than what I am getting for 1000 pageviews that are paid per impression on that site aswell.

I am earning peanuts to what I should be earning if I was paid per click for all of the page impressions that my site receives, but because I am being paid per click and per impression then my earnings is getting affected quite a substantial amount.

It would be nice if you could opt out of this sort of advertising so you could choose weather you just want CPC or both.

Thought that I would reply to my own post to say that what I had said above was at the spure of the moment. I had writen this thread just after I had done some lengthly analysis of my Adsense earnings over a few months and noticed I was earning less per CPM on average.

So what I have found is that using CPM in adsense is for some people a cheaper form of advertising on websites than cpc.

After noticing this, I have now decided to advertise on adwords myself using CPM so that I can take advantage of it. I was advertising on it per click, but I have had no luck and think CPM my be the best alternative to what I want to promote.

How I see it, if people can advertise their site on mine and get quite a few clicks for a low to average CPM price, then why can't I. So if you can't beat it, why not just join them.

I would also imagine that a site with CPM advertisers that has lots of traffic and good ad positions is more likely to do better with higher earnings per CPM than what a small site would. This is because the serious advertisers are more likely to advertise with the larger sites so that they can do less work in monitoring their ads and also get their site more exposure in a short time.

So I guess it is time to grow even bigger.

I use adword and for me advertising in CPM is costly then PPC. I use image ads for CPM campaign as well as PPC and found that for same amount spend I get more impression on PPC campaign then CPM.

Yeah, I just seem to be earning alot less on average for CPM ads than what I am on CPC ads for every 1000 ads shown. Infact it is about 3 times as less.

But anyway, I am happy that advertisers are directly choosing my site to advertise with, plus I can't really moan that much as I am also an adertiser in Adwords and every body looks for the cheapest advertising option that still converts well into a good ROI.

I have never tried CPM before, but I have started setting up an ad just to see if I can also benefit from it.

About CPM ads, they are also called site targeting ads.....

Here is an article about site targeting ads:

[URL deleted - Moderator]

As a publisher, you can't opt-out from the site targeting ads by changing your adsense settings. The only way is to send a email to google.... Crying or Very sad
Whether opt-out will earn you more is hard to tell though...

Thanks for the link. I know what CPM on Adwords is all about now though as I had read all about it yesturday for about 2 - 3 hours. I went through all of their presentation so I could understand more about bidded terms and how sites are ranked and things.

I did this as I am starting to look at advertising a few sites with Adwords.
