I look for an idea to make viral marketing.. means my mailing list should multiply each day ..
If you are intelligent.. think about and discuss..
Personally I don't doubt my intelligence...
I have more sites working on viral than you can guess...
well to start off discussion with viral marketing...
lemme show you couple of examples.
first site uglypeople.com (dont wanna link it there cuz it also has some porn so view dscretion is recommended)
this site is pretty viral.. why?.... people want to know that they aren't as ugly as they thought
next site is hotornot.com (again view descretion is recommended). its again viral site.. why? because people want to know how ugly they are? Lol contradiction in those two...
third site i want to show you is very nice site "www.cuteoverload.com" cutey cutey site... go and check it...
my suggestion is virals sites are about peoples emotions(contradicting or not). Emotions like, greed, feeling superiority(uglypeople and hotornot), and then some more greed.....
Everybody knows that the real money is in the list. How would you like to create a non stoppable flood of subscribers to your list week after week after months, after year?in year?out ?
If you are not using viral marketing accelerated contagion influencer leads or as known also viral marketing strategies that create a stream of subscribers and sales for you, you are wasting time and money.

There are many ways and it depends on the type of site, budget etc. Friends ReUnited is a good example - people encouraged their friends to join, because everyone wanted it to be bigger and more interesting - everyone seemed to be talking about Friends ReUnited.
Some of the major ones spring to mind where u get money for recommending a friend - eg. i joined my online bank cos my friend told me how great it is, and she got commission. I referred a friend to virgin airmiles and got free bonus miles.
Forums are another way - people tell others about great forums which they enjoy, because the more people who join, the more interesting it is. _________________ Catherine Lawson's Business Advice Blog

I was getting confused as to whether all this talk of "Viral Marketing" meant the same thing. Are you all on the same wave-length? I'm not, obviously. I checked Allan's Affiliates' Dictionary uh-uh! That dictionary needs some entries, Allan.
A Google seach gave this:
"On the Internet, viral marketing is any marketing technique that induces Web sites or users to pass on a marketing message to other sites or users, creating a potentially exponential growth in the message's visibility and effect. One example of successful viral marketing is Hotmail, a company, now owned by Microsoft, that promotes its service and its own advertisers' messages in every user's e-mail notes.
"Some marketing people prefer terms other than viral marketing. In his popular e-mail newsletter about selling on the Web, John Audette asked readers to suggest alternatives, including other terms in current use. Among those suggested have been:
I think I'm wiser now!! Duh!
I wonder how many of you agree with this description.
No wonder no-one details techniques but just wants to drop links instead.
Go easy on the link placement, please. Make sure you use your signature file as often as possible.

A good way would be creating a special pdf report with stuff to brand your site, then contacting people in your market and offer them the rights to sell this report for a small sum of money. Or you could include affiliate links in the report and offer your partners the ability to change the links to their own aff.links as long as you can keep your own link in it. That way, you can put your link at the bottom of every page of your pdf report. Free traffic from the efforts of others, gotta love that! _________________ >>>MY BLOG<<<

Wally I agree with this statement.. thats why I gave out the sites which stirs the human emotion. whenever you have something which stirs the Human emotion... It'll create Viral effect...
marketers stirs the Greed/money emotion...
Spiritual Guru stirs your guilt emotion(ie. they'll tell tales about ***, money and what not). I won't count guilt as an emotion but more as after effect on emotion.

Wally, I think I explained this.. but to write down techniques is bit hard...

Seems a fair enough definition, but...

This sort of "passive branding" side is only one aspect. People couldn't help but promote Hotmail if they wanted to use the service.
But what about the affiliate marketing side?

Hotmail as an example of viral marketing? John Audette? Blimey, that definition is showing it's age.
With the notable exception of "buzz" and "referral marketing", most of those suggested terms aren't much used nowadays. Or am I just mixing with the wrong sort of people?
I mean - "centrifugal marketing"? That one got me in a spin just thinking about it. And I'm a philosopher.
All the best,

MarketingSherpa reviewed nearly 100 detailed entries to pick the Top 12 viral marketing campaigns for their 2006 Hall of Fame.
There's big budget stuff, but also some useful small budget ideas, too, for example an article describing how blogs and press releases were used to publicize a free ebook, which was downloaded at the rate of 1,000 a day:

The Blog In Space idea, which has attracted millions of visitors, is intriguing. I see they're smart enough to collect email addresses:

By the way, that old quote Wally discovered related to a competition John Audette ran years ago to try to find a new name for viral marketing, because it has such yukky connotations. My suggestion was wildfire marketing. Unfortunately someone grabbed that domain name years ago. _________________ Allan Gardyne

If I had to name my third favourite thing in the whole wide world, it would have to be viral marketing. It's a great meeting place for both brains.
I haven't digested it all yet, but these seem to be about the conscious, deliberate sort of viral marketing (as opposed to Hotmail's passive branding).

That's strange, as I can't ever remember having any negative connotations myself.
That said, get away from IM and many people initially confuse "viral" with a computer virus. I certainly wouldn't use the term viral marketing in polite conversation. People might get the wrong idea. Shame really.
