Post subject: Blog or Not?

I have 4 niche websites (average 40 pages each) and 2 newer blogs that make money from time to time. The blogs are on different topics than my websites, and make a bit more $. I do however, usually update my websites less frequently. I like the idea of blogging and having 100 different niche blogs is my goal.
1) What is the difference between a blog and a website? I could just do a niche website and instead of writing an article for the blog I could just add another page to my website and update it more frequently, right?
2) Are blogs just more convenient way to build websites?
3) My blogs are on Blogger.com, but I want to use Wordpress on my own server. I want to use my own server in case blogger or even Wordpress online shut me down for advertising. Can I use one domain to host all my different blogs, much like Blogger (www.topic.blogspot.com) does? For example, can I have www.topic.websitedomain.com, www.topic#2.websitedomain.com, to www.topic#100.websitedowmain.com using wordpress and keep hosting down to one domain name for 100 blogs?
4) If we can have 100 blogs on 1 domain, that would save hosting costs if I were to build 100 websites. Is that a reason people use blogs to make money vs. building websites?
Thank you in advance! |

Updating and handling blogs are far more easier and then it pings the bl0g search engines and lots of plugins that makes your life easier.
you can say blog gives you extra room for manevurablity.

Yup.
Yup.. You can do this... it'll save on hosting and domain costs.. get a general domain name... Do not link blogs with each other if they are not closely related.

You can do this with websites too... no worries.. I do it with both blogs and websites... and being a blogger I prefer blogs than websites
Oh btw get your blogs off from blogspot.com

Thanks Varun!
Let me ask you this, I claim ignorance on my part, but how could you have 100 webs with 1 domain? Wouldn't it just be 100 web pages and not websites? How could I make a website with 100 different topics and be found by SE's with one domain? For example, would I use www.domain.com/hair and www.domain.com/cars, just like I would use for blogs www.hair.domain.com and www.cars.domain.com? It seems with multiple topics a 100 blogs would be better than doing 100 mini sites. Is that a correct assumption?
Thank you! |

You know most of the SEO experts I know talk about how Search engines treat subdomains as different domain.. so you can have one general domain
varuns-lounge.com and then have another subdomain as healthon.varuns-lounge.com

Well I personally would prefer creating 100 blogs than sites.
