I don't think email marketing is dead. Allan sends you an email, and you still read, right? I know I do ...
But Allan took years to build his reputation to what he has now. Like Allan said, I think it's a communication problem, not email marketing.
I do a bit of email marketing myself. And I make quite alright with it. Infact I do better when I do email marketing compared to just coming up with new websites.
Anyhow, I believe the key to this is building relationship and trust with your readers. If you publish an ezine, etc .... don't just send emails when there's something to promote. Share your tips and tricks a little bit, and your readers will love you.
Sometimes, it's even OK to tell something that is totally non-related to the topic of your ezine. Infact that will draw your readers closer to you. Allan was writing from the hospital telling how he was doing sometime ago. And I believe he got a lot of "get-well" messages.
And I write when my daughter started crawling and when she turned one. I also write when I was having a vacation and even showed some photos. I read this in the e-Code. The best topics to pull response are -- women, babies and pets. You can try that yourself.
So to conclude ... I don't think email marketing is dead. But still alive and kicking. You just have to do the right way ... like anything else, there's the right way, and the wrong way. Just make sure you do it right, and money can be flowing like water from the pipe. _________________ Iszuddin Ismail aka Kidino
