I am building a specialty search engine. There will only be one page, but when it has results there will be a string of terms in the URL.
Is there a way to send the terms searched on to google so the ads are based on them?
I am working in PHP.
Thanks for your input,

google results are based on key words .
so lets say if someone search for " affiliate program" in your search engine . you should paste something like " result for affiliate programs are as follows" .. so everytime display string entered on search result page it may help google to pick keyword and show relevent ads . _________________ Tips to increase Affiliate earning |

That makes sense and shouldn't be that hard. I can stick them into the page title and a header, and a maybe somewhere else on the page.
Thanks for the suggestion.

google.com/adsense/ad-filter
Login to your Google AdSense account and then go to that URL, or you can click "ads for content > competitive ad filter" and get to the same page that way.
There, you can choose to block ads from appearing that you do not want to appear. Thus, you can pick what ads appear on your site by a combination of optimizing your page for a specific keyword phrase + competitive ad filter. _________________ HIGHLY recommend DreamHost! for your hosting needs.

I'm familiar with some people that have done this before.
More than likely you'll get ads relevant to your domain name, rather than the search query term.
Each time someone searchs for a different phrase, to the Adsense spider a "new" unique page is created. If you're users are constantly searching for different phrases, then Google Adsense, by default, will serve ads based on the URL until the spider gets around to checking out that page.
Now, if you get a lot of searchs for a particular term or phrase, eventually the spider will visit those pages and serve relevant ads whenever someone searchs for that exact phrase again.
I hope I didn't confuse things too much. _________________ Robert

Robert, good explanation. Maybe I'll have two pages- index with the search box and results with the terms.
Maybe it won't work at all, and I'll use tjose other image based ads.
Thanks for your input.

I don't believe that there is a good way to get the absolute keywords that you want picked up as adsense terms.
On the other side of the coin-- as an adwords advertiser, I often wish that I could specify which sites my ads are displayed on. I had high hopes when they launched the site specific adwords program, but IMHO it turned out to be a dismal failure because of the complicated system of mixing regular adsense with site specific ads and the formula for which ones are displayed.
I wish that there was a way that I, as an advertiser, could request a certain site and the site owner could either approve or reject my request without all of the &*^% associated with it.... (sigh...) Since adsense sometimes misses the point of the site, this would create more relevance in some cases. |

RLR - There is a way to select sites. Go to the site you want and look at the google ad. Some have advertise on this site links.
I am running ads on a discussion board that way. The ads don't work in the general mix of ads, but they do work on that discussion board.

You can also tell google on which section to focus in your site. You use following
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->
and
<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
to do it. There's also a way to tell Google to not seek keywords in a specific section. You can find more help in Google Adsense Help section. _________________ Ron Mertens
