Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board but not new to website development. I have been working online for over 5 years. And I have worked with serveral Affiliate Programs during their setup process, along with promoting different programs.

What is some of the best features you have seen in an affiliate system? Promotional Ads? Payouts? Bonus Programs? Anything that is a must for you?

I promote most of my affiliate programs through pay per clicks so I prefer programs with high payouts minimum $20 per action. I prefer joining affiliate programs through the the big neworks like cj, clickbank or befree. This helps with a lot of things.

Hi Maayan

This would be to help me build a better affiliate system. I would like to hear what most affiliates would want in a system. Like for promoting Ad generators, banners, text links, full page ads, templates, sliding ads, popups, etc. How do you like to be paid out, weekly, bi weekly, monthly.

Do you like programs that have bonus items? Like I have used a few and recieved an xbox, extra cash, etc. I have tried a few that had car give aways, etc. Or would you just want more cash per sale?

And thanks for the input netwise. Smile

Hello Tanya.

I'd like a good first product (priced for market penetration) with an excellent sales letter - yielding decent $/click. (Don't care about %ages.)

But most important, I'd like a lifetime commissions program for an ever-growing series of equally excellent products. Ideally, each one will solve one problem but also introduce a new problem that can only be solved by buying the next (more expensive) product in the affiliate program series.

Not really interested in any of that stuff. I'll write my own, thanks, in my own "unique style" that my visitors have come to "know and love".

Having said that, if you are in the wonderful position of being able to confuse affiliates with customers, it may well be worth including all that stuff. You'll attract many more underperforming affiliates, but quite a few potential customers at the same time.

Monthly will do. I'm more worried about reassurances as to your affiliate tracking than exact payment terms, to be honest.

I am much more interested in $/click than competitions. (I already buy a lottery ticket.) But if you want to attract a large number of affiliates (for reasons mentioned above), competitions might help.

Performance bonuses are a nice touch. Especially if they are a thankyou surprise.

I dare say others will have different priorities, but that's my view.

All the best,
Charlie.

P.S. If you want to get me really excited, make it two tier and give me a month before you go public. Wink

Thank you Charlie. We do direct response mailings, and are taking on affiliates now for that. Our email tracking does show opens, clicks and sales. Our regular links shows views and sales. And the technology used in the ads are one of a kind. They convert like nothing I have ever seen, pushed or used. And my income for the last 5 years has been from affiliate systems.

We are a couple months from launching affiliate programs, I want to make sure we offer as many options to affiliates that we can.

I agree you can't just put up a link, banner or any other ad and expect to make sales. I do SEO work full time and know the value of writing and building everything from scratch.

I don't believe we will be offering a per click program though, too many ways for people to cheat. It is per sale right now.

What type of products do you believe sale best for recurring income?

Hello again.

I was assuming you meant commission on sales not pay per click...

When I said dollars per click I meant how many dollars on average I will earn for each visitor I send to the sales page - a combination of the dollar commission and the sales page CR.

Take a look at how Sitesell's lifetime customers program operates. I also like anything with monthly memberships.

Most of my experience is in digital products and services (not hard goods), but anything with high dollar/click is of interest, in theory.

I generally try and exploit small but easy traffic sources, and my horizons are broadening with time.

All the best,
Charlie.

I have been developing a new loyalty building program for the past 2.5 years. Spent $500,000 and lots of blood, sweat and tears. I have just launched.

It directly involves affiliate advertisers. I have 1300 signed up and willing to pay a commission.

The entire bussiness model is based around that. What I need is for the affiliates to provide just a little help to get this going. It is free to all and only take like 5 minutes of their time.

Without their help the business model can't work.

It talking to a few of them, they are very paraniod due to scams. Maybe they have had very bad people hurt them or something.

My queston is: What does it take to get a little help from the affiliate marketers of the world to start a new loyalty building program that benefits their sales?

What do they (affiliate marketers) want?

Thanks

What do you mean by loyalty program? How does the model work? It's a little hard to respond without knowing what's involved, and exactly what's needed from the parties.

Hi Debs:

Thanks for your inquiry!

My loyalty building program is very unique and powerfull. Everyone that sees the whole thing is amazed.

Here?s how this works?.

The entire site is based on the ?Treasure Hunt? or otherwise referred to as medallion find.

If you've never heard of this I can explain. It is very popular in Minnesota and is an excellent marketing promotion!

Retail and service store front Businesses unite and create a treasure hunt that is massively promoted in a city or town. The Businesses all pitch in and promote the event and benefit jointly from all the exposure.

Consumers are searching the area for a hidden object (like a treasure chest). This Hunt continues on for a few weeks and sometimes longer. Weekly Clues are given by all the local businesses via radio and other conventional advertising until someone finds the hidden treasure. The finder wins a prize! Sometimes the prize is a new car or ATV. It?s amazing how many people participate in this.

While everyone is hunting for the hidden treasure they receive clues and special offers from all the local businesses. They pick up maps and clues in retail stores..etc. It is a very powerful marketing vehicle and has been for years!

KaGing.com is the first on-line Treasure hunt. We?ve been in production for about 2 yrs. now. We are finally ready to launch!

Gold coins are accumulated by each treasure hunter.

- They receive them free from all the advertisers as a gift;
- they also get them for each site they visit while they are searching;
- and they get them by referring friends...etc.

At any time these Treasure hunters can modify their interests in real time and only the sites of interest will be displayed first to them while they hunt.

These Gold coins are redeemed at any of the participating sites (exclusive to CJ advertisers currently). Your site is already in the shopping area for them to make purchases.

You may add your site in the Treasure Hunt for free. It is not required but it is an excellent way to target your offers to the right consumers.

You can choose in real time what Treasure hunters you want to send to see your site through the control panels. You can have all Treasure hunters click-thru or choose a certain demographic.

The targeting is the best available and includes all major demographics right down to age.

You can choose which pages you want to be viewed by these treasure hunters in real time.

There's so much for you to benefit from and it?s free with no strings and we do not sell data!

So, there it is! I need all 1300 advertisers that are in the shopping area where the Treasure hunters go to purchase and use the coins for discounts to enter their sites and/or to give out 500,000 gold coins to each of their memebrs so all can share in the marketing.

Hope that is enogh info!

Here is the link to the full site where yu can demo it and just have fun!

Thanks to you and all who can help.

Ok, I understand how it helps the advertiser, and how it helps the surfer, but how does it help the affiliate marketer?

Kris,

Also, how about the issue of self promotion? I know you're keen, but have you seen this thread...

Hi all:

The way this greatly benefits the affiliate marketer is the same way it does for all the Advertisers. There are dozens of sites that are affiliate marketing in this way already in the shopping area.

Because the intense demographic targeting, stickiness, and loyalty building that this program offers, it acts like a real community in that all leads are shared amongst all for free. You can benefit from your neighboring businesses members and vice-versa. Everyone has multiple interests and since the treasure hunters choose their interests and in real time, any marketer can experiment with real time targeting. Not to mention that you can choose all demographics and categories as well.

An amazing thing we found when we did out Beta is that we had an 80% conversion rate due to the fact that the Hunters already had coins to spend before they visited the sites in the treasure hunt and before they entered the shopping area. Purchases are made from either area and sometimes both!

Again this is free!

Thanks

Kris

This is in response to Charlie's post.

What I am talking about is free anyway!

I am seeking help here to understand the way advertisers that use affiliate marketing think.

I also gave advice the very first post I made.

To be clear about this, I would like help in understanding why everyone is so paranoid to the point of failure. How many .com's go out of business every day because their marketing is not working!

Sure you can blame it on support issues or something else, but at the end of the day the failures have only to blame themselves for not being willing to get past the paranoia!

Some that failed have told me directly that they wish they had better support from their marketing relationships.

Just as an example, out of 1300 advertisers through CJ, about 30% of those cant afford to pay their bill and get shut out until they do. Some never return.

It goes on and on and I would like to know why everyone is so afraid especially when it is free without any obligation!

Thanks again for any help,

Kris
