Hi All
I am very new and have just got a site up an running.( check it out http://woodworkingplans.ca Any advice is always welcome, good or bad I can take it.)
The vast majority of the information I've been reading explains how to turn visits into sales using mailing list, testimonials, etc. The problem I have is that I simply get no visits. I am new.
I have submitted to search engines, visiting forums and made posts (sig file at the bottom of course.)
I have signed up at an affiliate site I feel good with to add some needed content to my site.
I've been reading about web marketing for about 4 days straight and my brain is turning to mush, talk about information overload. I am bogged down, most of the info contradicts the other information.
I need some effective methods to drive traffic to my site that aren't going to break my *small* budget.
Boy talk about feeling like the new kid in the play ground.

But I checked Your homepage keywords, and I think they're missing.... take godd look (study) into keyword tactics and how to submit them. Can't think You can go wrong with that concept; perfecting one's home....... |

Thanks for the heads up on the keywords. They were in the file that I created the template from and for some reason they didn't "transfer" to the template. All fixed now. _________________ Business Owners Guide to Going Online What every business owner needs to know about going online |

Welcome to the forum and to the world of affiliate marketing.
For a good healthy dose of how to build an affiliate site, read Ken Evoy's Affiliate Masters Course. It's free and has excellent information. You can download it here: http://freetrial.sitesell.com/sitesell-downloads.html. Same page has other material, but start with this one. It will teach you how to build a Web site that drives traffic from free search engines.
Also, keep in mind that it takes some time after registration for search engines to fully include your site in their database. It could take from weeks to months.
One web building tip for your site: Your outside links open in the same window as your site. You usually want the outside links to open in a new window so that your site doesn't vanish from the visitors' desktop. Just add target=_blank to the anchor tag to open the target URL in a new window.
Regards,
Yaron |

And another thing:
From what it looks, you have done very little from what can be done to build pages that rank well with search engines.

I have been creating websites for a year or so now, but I am an absolute newbie when it comes to search engines.
Can anyone recommend some good sources to help me out?
Thanks for the help. _________________ Business Owners Guide to Going Online What every business owner needs to know about going online |

Sean Burns is a poster on this forum, if you search for posts by him I am sure you will some excellent advice. Also, the SEO threads in particular will offer great advice to rank well in Google, as well as other SE's.

Hi sophist,
welcome. Had a look at your pages - not enough spider food. SEs like content, even if it is a blurb underneath your products. Like the others say, you need to find keywords that aren't too competitive with some demand for it and then build pages with text that includes that keyword sprinkled liberally throughout - I highly recommend Ken's AM course (the free version) - it's insightful and I still continue to read it over time and time again to pick up on things I've missed before...
I know Ken mentioned that links don't matter that much but I would set up a links page and exchange some links, add yourself to some directories - if nothing at all, they will bring in traffic...I know my external links have brought in traffic to my site.
