Hello;
does your web site get listed easier on dmoz or any other directory or SE if you run a directory on your site which feeds data from dmoz?
or if your web site is already listed get more traffic?

I'd imagine if your site is a mirror copy of the DMOZ directory, or has some data from it, DMOZ would be LESS likely to list you.
They are notorious for listing sites that are original and unique. Certainly duplicating their directory isn't very unique.

I would still think that would get picked up as some duplicate content in the eyes of DMOZ reviewers and the SEs.
Now, if you feel your visitors would benefit from it; go ahead. But don't do it for reasons of getting listed in DMOZ yourself or getting in the SEs.

Having your own directory and having people place their links in it for free is a nice way to go.
I just started a directory on one of my sites.
Free to list in the categories shown (more will be added, so let me know if there is a category you believe I should have).
No need to swap links, or any of that noise.
Just put in your link, and if in the right category, I will approve it.

As my directory is picked up by search engines, other directories, etc...it will help your site if it is included.
