Hi! Newbie here. I am planning to build me first site using SBI. I want to know if it is OK to create links to other sites with the same niche without their permission. I have discovered some sites with good reference material I could link to. Is this OK? Is it legal to do so without first consulting them?

I seem to recall reading about a court case in which a company was objecting to a website that was doing a whole lot of deep linking to internal pages.
However, the vast majority of website owners will be delighted if you link to them. There's no need to write and ask.
However, if you do write and tell them you've linked to them because you admire their site, and say exactly what you like about their site, you might get lucky - they might link to yours, if it's worth linking to.
