It really is a question of keeping at it. You really seem to be going the right way about it. Don't give up and just keep at it.

I just started a new website about a week ago and I'd be happy if I could get 100 visitors there every day. Is there anything special that you did to drvie traffic to your site? I think I have a good idea that can help a lot of people, but it will do me no good if I don't have any traffic. Any suggestions for driving traffic to the site?

The traffic # isn't what matters most. Sure the more traffic you have the more money is possible. But if your site is good enough, you should still get some money out of it.

If your target market is too small, then try to think of other markets that are linked to your market that people might also be interested in. For example. Got people who are interested in cars? maybe they'd like to learn more about car stereos, or wheels, or how to increase the performance of a particular car.

Now instead of thinking about the traffic you'll get from that one site, you've got the combined traffic from all those sites and you can link between them if you like.

Em..I'm not trying to lead out of this thread but I have some question that I couldn't understand. I built a website few months ago on this thing call niche.

But since I've no hobby, no particular passion on anything, I just borrow articles from Article city pertaining to my niche - Finance. It would be dreadful if you want me to write each and every page myself that I don't really expert in.

I thought it would be a great site, with around hundred of pages. And I've combine both affiliate program and adsense to monetize it. And I drive traffic to it using Adwords, search engine submission software etc. But, I don't even get more than 10 clicks on the adsense ads in 6 months! The traffic is low..

But deadlyminds took only 20 days to do things that I've always wanted. I've checked his site on MSN (top indian recipe) and it ranks #1 out of 372,799 for the keyphrase "top indian recipe" and it ranks on page 2 for keyphrase "indian recipe" out of 3,426,376 competing site.

Please advise what I've done wrong. I'm about to dump this site because I just couldn't figure out why? Here's the website
Genius Finance

I'm now moving to blogs since I don't need to pay for hosting etc. It's practically losing money to maintain a website than a free blog.

fattysolo,

I sent you a PM but I also just checked out your site. Have you had your site reviewed on this forum? There is a section to have your site reviewed.

If you are not getting any clickthroughs maybe you should consider redesigning your site. Have you made any changes since you started it? I have redesigned my site 5 times in 5 months. I made some changes and I found out what worked the best and went back to it.

Have you considered a free email course about getting our of credit card debt or something like that?

fattysolo,

I did a search on msn and found 64,394,584 results come up for the term finance. That's most likely a hyper-competetive industry with a ton of people fighting for the top positions.
What other keywords are you targeting ie "finance basics" or "finance advice"?
Even with good keywords it may be hard to come up high in msn.

When I went to your site it seemed like the purpose of the site was to advertise to me, and not to give me the information I want. Without thinking I immediately hit the "Back" button. Your visitors want free information on specific topic most likely so that's what you should give them. Weave higly relevant ads into your content whenever possible. If possible, you want your ads to completely blend in with your content. Ideally your visitor won't tell the difference between content and advertising.
For an example go to http://myfamousquotes.com/l/Life.php and look how the ads blend in with the content. It's not perfect but it does get clicks from Adsense.

Each page of your site (except maybe your home page) should deal with 1 topic and ONLY 1 topic. Put on that page the best information you can find on that 1 topic. Your ads should also ideally focus exclusively on that topic. Ads above the fold are good, but make sure you put an ad at the bottom of your content. When a visitor finishes an article he will be thinking Where shall I go now? And then he will see your relevant ad and be more likely to click on it.

A quick word on Adwords: Be sure if you bid on a keyword like "home 2nd mortgage" that you send them to a page dealing exclusively with that topic. Bidding on very specific keywords and then sending visitors to a home page is usually not a good idea.

Hope this helps.

If you're following Ken, you know that building a good business online takes time; give yourself a good 6 months to see the snowball effect begin (although it sounds like you're doing great right now!). Keep at it, don't give up, go the way of the tortoise.

Just a little sidenote: I am a Site Build It! owner and, although all the application and tips are great, there is no replacement for the integrated tools that make Site Build It! what it is. It's truly amazing and I've been in web design for 7 years, computer-related business since 1984. I am truly impressed with SiteSell and Site Build It!

Here's to your success! Wink

Thanks All,
BisaBisa, you're right. I didn't make any changes to it since built. But it looks too good to me. And I don't know what to write. I really don't have a particular interest or deep passion on anything. Therefore, writing more than 10 pages on a subject I know little is tough.

Hadden,
Your site looks simple, I get what you mean. Will make some amendment.

Thanks a lot.

Some freinds tested it and found out that you can kill the compation. by clicking the google advertisments, later causing them to get suspended from google for life. If you plan to have a large income from google be prepared to get squashed. I was lucky to do some investagation before i set out and tried adsense fully.

I really don't think this will happen. If you normally login to your adsense account from IP address A, and somebody from IP address B clicks on your ads a zillion times Google will become suspicious and temporarily not count clicks from IP address B.

Otherwise it'd be very easy to do evil things to your competition.[/quote]
