Post subject: lots of click thru but few sales

one of my sites is doing around 100 click thrus to the merchants daily, but not many sales. is their anyway i could get paid for the clickthrus and forget about the commision, i mean if i even got only $10 a day for the clicks , it would be better than $0.
I do have Google Adsense on the site, which does bring between $5-10 a day, but i need to do something with those additional 100clicks?

| Maybe it is time to find a different merchant. The one you use may not do a good job of converting sales. Alternatively, you could remove your merchant links and have your adsense ads as the only option. Maybe those 100 clicks will click on your adsense ads instead. |

Hi Fred,
I know how you feel.
I am new to affiliate marketing like you.
I also get tons of traffic and click thrus to my merchants
and I would love to get paid for thoses clicks!
But affiliate marketing is all about numbers.
I know a 100 clicks seems like alot, but it's not.
Internet surfers are very fickle.
You have to WOW your potential customers with
a great offer to get them to take out their credit
card and type in the ordering information.
Put yourself in their shoes.
How often do you see an advertisement on
the internet that makes you get out your
credit card and order?
Don't give up. Keep learning.

Good luck with your marketing.

Adsense is probably the best choice to maximize clickthroughs unless you have a very large amount of traffic and go for impressions instead. While the rate for impressions may seem low, a high traffic site with good targeted content can earn $5 to $10 per 1000 impressions. I have seen rates much lower however, it depends on the traffic and topic.
It is a numbers game, as mentioned above, and most tracking is based upon 1000 this and 1000 that
What kind of conversion rate are you getting with your merchants? Understand that you won't get 100% conversion. And anything over 5% is phenomenal generically speaking. I believe I have seen conversions of 1-3% to be considered norm, depending on the topic.
If your merchants aren't making the norm, then do test other merchants to see if their conversions are better. If, however, your merchants are meeting or exceeding the norm, then consider yourself blessed and check out other things you can do to improve traffic and rankings

Fred,
Please be carefull as this could be one of those catch 22 cases.
What do I mean by catch 22? well...you're getting those traffic because
those people are looking for your merchant keywords which is all over
your pages. As a result of them visiting your site, they could change their
mind and click on Adsense ads. You win! but if they click on your merchant
link and no sale is made, your're mad
It's hard to measure how often your visitors click on your adsense ads
as a result been brought there by your merchant keywords.
Do you provide contents only? If so you could remove all (yes! all) your
merchant ads and monitor for a week or two...to see if your adsense clicks
remain the same. I think you will found, your adsense money will drop!
Success to You,
