I tried to make money on google adsense. but my site has no traffic. some visitors did visit my site, but no one clicked any ads. I hope I can know something from this forum.

I think you're not allowed to do that...

I don't understand what sam and Geno talked about. I want to learn how to use SEO effectively to increase my site traffic from this forum. What's wrong with it?

You're not allowed to advertise your sites/services in the body of your messages.

Hi cf,

I'm a bit of a forum expert/lover.
Some forums are ok with putting
an aff link in the body of your post IF...

....if it's done tastefully, or blended so
that it doesn't seem like a blatant advertisement.

Like if you post a really nice, informative
article and have like 1 link in the middle of it
somewhere, some places will let it ride. But
for that to happen, you have to have a unique
moderating situation.

I can't speak for this place (and lord knows they
don't want me to) but first the moderators would
have to be totally secure. In other words, they
would not be prone to deleting posts out of jealousy,
or self-protection of any kind. They would have to
be experienced enough in IM to accurately and
objectively evaluate the post to see if it was just
junk or a rant about nothing just to slip in an aff link.

And it's not that there arne't people like that, but
my experience tells me that most moderators and
forum owners don't really

a) want to get involved to that extent, and
b) can't find someone who DOES to help out.

So it's 10 times easier to just make a sweeping
rule "no aff links in the body" than it is to micro-manage
and allow aff links in only if the post is nutritious...

...then you run into the area of some author's really
thinking their posts are useful when the moderator
doesn't and arguments ensue and it just gets ugly.

So...it makes sense to say "no aff links in the body period."
Or, in your case, no advertising links in the body. And
you still got to keep it in your signature file, right?

Best wishes,
Sam

You could start by reading the Search Engine Optimization section. Feel free to ask questions there.

Sam, so you can't speak for our rules - you could if you read them!!

You'd know that URLs do have a place at times in the message body.

Affiliate links:
If you want to use an affiliate link or a disguised affiliate link in a post, please place it in your signature file, NOT in the post. Remember, promotional posts belong in the "Free Advertising" section. Subtle promotions belong there, too!

How to avoid being accused of spam:
Please avoid URLs in your posts unless you also add explanatory information. Why? Because an explanation helps people to decide whether they want to click on the link for more information. Obvious advertisements - and posts we're doubtful about - will either be deleted or moved to the "Free Advertising" section.

In general, a detailed reply to a genuine query often has its URL allowed as appropriately presented - and not perceived as some sort of promotion.
