I am really not sure what forum to put this in, so I'll start here. If the Admins think it should be elsewhere, feel free to move it. Smile

I've had a few unsolicited email inquiries recently from people claiming that they are looking for "one place" to send their clients who are looking for thing to do with my topic. Ya right. Now, my topic is astrology which is unlikely to be a big draw beyond what people find for free through Google. It's just not a high-paying area. So I'm thinking this has got to be a troll looking for...what??

The latest says they're "not a leads based system" which is not something I've ever heard of either. This latest one says they're looking for a site to send their "clients looking from the search engines to one place at the exact moment they are looking." So now I feel I know now as much as I did before. Laughing

Can anyone explain to me what these inquiries/businesses are about? It smells like a scam of some kind to me, but I don't know anything about it.

Could this be the link/search engine results hijacking I've heard about? In other words (if I understand it correctly), someone clicks on a link from Site-A or Search-Results-A, thinking they're going to be taken to Site-B, but in fact they're whisked away to Site-C instead. Or is this something else entirely? Or am I totally confused?

Thanks for helping to shed some light on this weirdness. Wink

Still hoping to get someone's take on this. Anyone want to take a stab at it? Or am I the only person to ever receive an email like these?

Thanks in advance for help to understand this! Very Happy

Sounds like it might be bait to get you to buy into their traffic increasing program.

Do they give you can url to check? Or is the email a domain email (vs. a free account like Yahoo or Gmail)?

Hi Debs,

Ya, that's the kind of thing I was wondering about. The only contact information (beyond replying to the email, I guess) is two phone numbers -- an 800 number for the US and a regular line for non-US. The email domain is just a dirt cheap isp company. I guess that kind of answers my question. LOL Thanks, it didn't occur to me to check out the email domain.
