Post subject: Home page keyword questions...
|
|
|
Hi,
I'm building a site on a niche where I have great keyword phrases for my following content pages But coming up with home page keywords is extremely difficult because it's a consumer related site with consumer words that are not profitable.
Can I use keyword phrases that I want to use for my following content pages for my homepage? Will I have problems getting into Google if I do that?
Any help or ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Homepage keyphrases are sometimes your most generic, least profitable keyphrases. Keep in mind your visitors will come in through a lot of different pages on your site, not always through your home page. My home page is 5th or 6th compared to other pages on my site.
Your tier 2 pages, then tier 3, will draw a lot more visitors. Your home page is basically an intro to your site, and a grounding point for visitors. Not really for conversions except to get them further into your site.

Bearing this in mind, remember to keep your on-site navigation links effective. You need to be able to move around easily, no matter where you start.
