As a result of Allan's latest newsletter I have just purchased myself a copy of Gary Huynh's Wordpress Elite. This really looks like it is going to save me *a lot* of time posting to all my blogs.

I had been hunting for a way to 'stack up' content for a timed release to my blogs - this is one of the main ways the software is going to help me. Additonally being able to manage them all from one place will be a massive time saver.

The signup process was painless and I am now in the process of downloading all the free goodies provided as part of the package... I am very impressed with the first impressions. I am going on holiday very early tomorrow morning so I will have to wait for a week before I can get my teeth into the package properly.

If you are a heavy Wordpress user Wordpress Elite looks like a must have.

Hi pilkster,

I haven't blog before, but I do have website setting-up experience (using webpage editor, adding scripts, ftp etc). In your opinion, would it be terribly difficult to learn to blog and use the product to the fullest, given my background?

Thanks!

Nope, You don't need to be a geek to set up blogs n use the product.
you can install wordpress blogs with fantastico(provided in cpanel normally) in seconds.

I would be really careful with WE. It is hosted on Gary's server and you have to provide a lot of passwords, to run the program.

cpanel login and password (from your hosting account)
username of the blog admin
password of the blog admin

So you are offering your complete "Business" to Gary on a silver plate Laughing !

Be careful!

I did come across this same observation on a blog by a well known marketer. Not sure if it was you that made the comment or not. Certainly worthwhile to keep this in mind.

Yes, that was me Wink !

WE would be worth the money, IF you could install the script on your own server, but as a hosted solution -> very, very risky!

Hi Guys

Sorry I didn't get to reply sooner, been out of town for a week. It would be great if you could carry the script on your own server, but I think this would cause problems for the (hopefully regular) updates and improvements to the script.

I have no problem with using Wordpress Elite and providing cpanel/blog logins. A certain level of trust has to be given in most business transactions. If you make regular backups of your server & mySQL databases then what is the worst that can happen? I would have a different opinion if Gary was asking for access to my domain registrar accounts!

Looks like your concerns have been addressed! I just received email from Gary letting me know that a standalone version is due to be complete on the 30th!

Regards, pilks

I know i'am posting a bit late to this topic. From what i saw from the copy of wordpress elite, it allows you to manage wordpress blogs from a single place. He also points out that he would be providing more than 100 themes and 500 plugins. Wordpress is highly customizable and if you're very much into multiple blogging, you can try out ither CMSs like b2 evolution, NucleusCMS and Joomla.

If you're maintining just 1 0r 2 blogs, wordpress is easy and highly flexible. You can upload any of the plugins mentioned in thw wordpress elite page and a lot of themes can also be installed. I don't see reason for paying $147 for a blog managemeb\nt system which is open source

<Disclaimer>
I have NOT used the WordPress Elite package. I have installed and maintained several CMS packages, including WordPress.
</Disclaimer>

You could do just about all of the tool for free. WP is free. And very simple to install (my grandmother could install WP. Seriously... she could. And she has rarely ever used a computer).

And the plugins for WP are also free. As with most of the templates. It's just a matter of finding all of those plugins and getting them setup. If you have 2 sites, that isn't that hard. If you have 50, then you want to either have an automated system, or be really bored with some time on your hands.

So, is it worth it? That's up to you. Can it be done cheaper... Same as with anything... save the money now, and spend the time later. Or save the time and effort now, and save money later.
