I use Andrea's template, then I just add my content,
and internal link. I don't create anything with FP it just
holds my template.
I also want to use Content Publisher, which uses ftp.
I'll have to experiment with one site, maybe I'll just publish
the slow way with fp sites and use dreamweaver with Content
Publisher and Cute FTP.
For future sites I guess it is best to use Dreamweaver,
Content Publisher and Cute FTP.
My goal is to publish faster.

Content Publisher was part of the reason I've moved away from FP with my newer sites. I found that FP didn't like dealing with pages that were created with another program. I still use FP if I need a WYSIWYG editor but in most cases I just use a text editor to edit my sites.
I have a domain that I just use for testing things. I would highly recommend it if you don't already have one. That way, there's no worry about breaking a site that's up and running |

I use one called Ultraedit, but it's not strictly an HTML editor. It support HTML formatting (indentation, code formatting, etc.) but it can be used for much more.
There are quite a few good ones around. Another one I've use is called Notetab. They have a free version and paid versions, so you can try it out to see if it suits you. I believe they're at www.notetab.com.
I've tried Dreamweaver and its text editing is very good, but I felt it was a little bit of overkill to just use it that way. It has a lot of features beyond its text editor. If you already own it, it works well, but personally I wouldn't spend the money on it just for the text editing function. |

Hi Jeremy...sorry I am a little late in adding to this post...but I hope I can help here for the future.
1. While it is perfectly okay to use FTP to "Publish" a FrontPage web...it is important to note...some "webbots" may not work correctly, such as forms and a couple of other FrontPage proprietary items.
If you are going to use FTP...instead of the "Http" your host is correct...you need to make a choice...one or the other. If you are using FrontPage it is always better to use the FrontPage publish function when ever possible. Before you make a choice to use FTP I would really recommend we find out why you are timing out. If you are still having a problem, you are welcome to give me a shout and I will help you troubleshoot the issue.
You also asked if upgrading to 2003 was a good thing...yes...
FP2002 had several bugs that where solved in the 2003 release...I highly recommend you upgrade. _________________ Lynne Robson
