Just wondering how many PADs you guys are doing per website, and how much of them you need to get your search engine rankings. Something tells me that 3 or 5 PADs might not be enough. So are we talking about having 10-20 PADs per website? Any idea on how much PADs Martell is using in his new sites? I personally have about 6 PADs per website but would like to see an improvement in rankings, so I'm thinking about hiring 6 more for each website. Let's see how that goes... _________________ Spy on my two brothers and I as we create and launch our first digital product!

Like anything, it depends on the niche; there is no set amount.
So far I've been having 4 to 5 PAD articles written per site; although these aren't overly competitive niches either. In addition to submitting them to article directories, I also seek out webmasters in my niche to post my article. Sometimes they do it for free, other times I give them a link on my link exchange page or post an article of their's.
Besides the number of PAD articles you have written, it also depends on how many sites decided to publish each article. The more times you can publish a single article the better.
My gut tells me over time it will make sense to only have a select few sites publish each PAD article and not dump them into article directories. Of course, I still recommend doing traditional link exchanges and traditional article distribution in the directories.
But also going outside the directories to have a few articles published in a few select places simply further diversifies your traffic streams and IBL.
Remember when it was simple to rank for a specific phrase by having every link partner use it as anchor text? Well Google updated things and now you should probably diversify the anchor text your link partners use. Naturally, the next thing that will probably go is links coming from pages with all identical content. Is it "natural" for most of the links pointing to your site coming from pages with nearly identical content?
Now, I'm not saying article distribution will go away; but like any good link campaign, diversity is KEY.
