Hello Everyone,

I have a question about linkage code that is used to point to a merchant. Here is the scenario:

Let's say you join Commission Junction and pick out a store, to become their affiliate. They tell you to use this code:

When that link is clicked by one of your visitors, it takes you to the store's home page and you -- the affiliate -- get credit.

Question: Is there any way to make the assigned link code point to a specific page within the site, rather than only the home page?

For example, the merchant is a magazine distributor and the page you want to point to is for "Outdoor Living": "www.magazine-site.com/subscribe_outdoor_living.html"

So you want the CJ code to open subscribe_outdoor_living.html when the link is clicked, so you get the credit if the person takes a subscription.

If there is an accepted way to handle this sort of thing, I'd appreciate the guidance. Thanks very much.....

Smile

In CJ, you need to do a search on that merchant for product links, then get the direct product link and use that; if they don't offer product links, contact them and ask for the one you want; most merchants would be receptive to providing product links as it increases conversions and purchases.

Don't try to "create" your own link however as it is very unlikely you would get any credit for that.

Thanks very much Debs for the instructions. Very Happy

As a brief follow-up, does anyone know if that method of getting product links is also utilized by the other major affiliate services, such as ClixGalore & ShareASale? Or is that level of "linkage control" unique only to CJ?

Your assistance is appreciated!

Linkshare and Befree offer the product links for various merchants; I don't know about the 2 you mentioned however.
